Those Final Fantasy VII Rebirth trophies will be releasing as a PS5 exclusive sooner than you might expect, with the latest State of Play trailer confirming Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's release date. Chocobo races were confirmed, plus you might want to book up on our Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion review before the new game launches as well, with Zach Fair making such a prominent appearance in Rebirth.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PS5 release date confirmed

Debuting at September's PlayStation State of Play showcase, the latest trailer confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will launch on Thursday, February 29, 2024. While we didn't learn much more about the game's unqie two discs release, we at least got an ever better look at what's in store for Cloud and the gang.
It seems the timeline shenanigans set-up in the previous game are ramping up in the sequel, with Zach Fair showing up a lot more than he does in the Final Fantasy VII. While the trailer doesn't entirely go far enough to confirm our suspicions that Zach will be one of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's playable characters, it does go well beyond that by confirming at least one character we never thought we'd get to play as.

We've got playable Cait Sith in the mix, who we did expect to see here, but we've also got Sephiroth, which is a wild one. We also get a glimpse at later party members Cid Highwind and even Vincent Valentine, both of whom we expect to see in this next section, though there's no confirmation on whether we'll play as either of them in Rebirth.

While we still didn't get direct confirmation that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth would have an open world, we did get to see a metric boatload of the stuff we'll get to do in that world. Minigames galore — we got Chocobo races! Plus more motorcycle battles, all of which makes this game look utterly stuffed with content.
Every time I see footage of this game, I feel some sort of instinctual response to put this immediately on the best PS5 games list — I'll do my best to at least wait until it comes out.
