It's official: Ratatan trophies are firmly on their way to PS5 and PS4. Plus, with the successor to PlayStation IP Patapon utterly smashing its Kickstarter funding goals, the developers at Ratata Arts feel confident enough to give us a Ratatan PS5 release window already. It turns out we might not have to wait forever to see this gem vying for a spot on our best indie games on PlayStation list.

Ratatan PS5 port sets tentative early 2025 release date

With the Ratatan PS5 port (and PS4 port) secured as a stretch goal during the game's Kickstarter campaign, we can now look to the tentative release window supplied by the campaign's delivery date for an idea of how long this game will take. According to the game's now-closed Kickstarter page, Ratatan will launch sometime in April 2025.
Between the campaign's closing on Monday, September 4, 2023, and Ratatan's tentative release date, that leaves backers with a solid 19-month-long wait until the game's release window rolls into view. While that initially seems like quite a long wait to some readers, in terms of crowdfunded game projects, that's a surprisingly snappy turnaround.

According to a celebratory post by Ratata Arts, the reason PS5 and PS4 players won't have to wait so long for Ratatan is that the game is already further along than you might expect: "We are further along in production than some other titles we've seen come to Kickstarter so we are doing our best to get Ratatan into your hot little hands as soon as possible."
These hot little hands certainly can't wait to play this revival of the Patapon series formula, so here's looking forward to 2025! For me, Ratatan certainly warrants a spot on our most-exciting upcoming
PS5 indie games list, but what do you think? Are you looking forward to playing this game in the not-too-distant future? Let us know in the comments below.
