With players trying to survive the hunt for Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon trophies, FromSoftware's latest has inevitably debuted on the PlayStation Chart of the most popular PS5 and PS4. Now it lines up amongst the best PS5 games available!

PS5 popularity heightens as PS4 use fades

Armored Core VI reviews are in and very positive about the mech action game from the Elden Ring developers. Its popularity amongst players has been reflected by a 15th-place finish on the chart, not bad for a relatively niche franchise. Clearly, FromSoftware's name is powering this along in part as well as its quality. It's worth noting that the ratio of PS5 to PS4 players is 8:1, showing that Sony's latest console is well and truly kicking into a more dominant gear after achieving success last year.
Moving onto last week's key topic: Red Dead Redemption's PS4 player count. If you need more definitive proof that no one really seems to care about this game from our sample of 3.2 million players, this week it has landed in 75th position on the chart. That's right, it's not remotely close to the top 40, though it has had a rise in players since it finished in 81st place last week. It's still nowhere near the amount playing Red Dead Redemption 2 week to week, obviously — we're sure that a better version of the first game would have scraped a few players away.

Fortnite is at the top of the chart this week, taking first place from Call of Duty Modern Warfare II. These two have been trading places all year, so there isn't much to note here other than our slight surprise that the Modern Warfare III gameplay reveal hasn't sent people flocking to the currently available entry as usually happens after big CoD-related events. The season 4 big events in Fortnite have clearly helped it along, however.
That brings us full loop to the bottom of the chart where we have a few notables. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is in 28th place on its debut, but Xbox performance will be the more important metric because it came on day one to Xbox Game Pass. We'll see if it can maintain its position next week. Cyberpunk 2077 is also on the chart in that 40th position — remember that the Phantom Liberty release date is soon!

So, that wraps us up for the week! Make sure you check out the best PS Plus games! What do you think of Armored Core VI's performance? Here are the top 40 PS5 and PS4 games of the week to make the PlayStation Chart for the week ending Sunday, August 27, 2023.
