Soulstice trophies for PS5 joined PS Plus Extra back on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, giving PS5 owners access to one of the most criminally underrated PS Plus games around. However, without any warning from Sony, it seems PS Plus Extra has added Soulstice's PS4 version as well to the Game Catalog — along with a separate platinum trophy to earn.

Sony shadow-drops Soulstice PS4 onto PS Plus Extra

After the new PS Plus Extra and Premium games for August 2023 landed on PS5 and PS4 on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, users reported that the PS4 version of Soulstice was also suddenly appearing in the 'recently added' section in the Game Catalog. That's despite the fact that the game's PS4 version was never announced for PS Plus Extra in the first place!
It wouldn't be the first time that Sony has added a bonus game to PS Plus with zero fanfare — PS Plus Extra added Anodyne for PS4 with no mention back in April 2023, for example. Yet, in the case of Soulstice, it gets somewhat more confusing, because it seems as though the game might have been sneakily added to PS Plus all the way back in June 2023.

Soulstice's PS4 edition launched months after the PS5 version on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 — the same day the game was set to join PS Plus Extra. According to one Reddit post at the time, Soulstice arrived with its PS4 version immediately available. Yet some commenters expressed difficulty accessing the PS4 version, as it didn't appear to be covered by PS Plus.

SoulsticeReports are mixed!

Whether the player who could access Soulstice PS4 on PS Plus back in June found a loophole to get it to work, or whether the commenter simply couldn't access the game due to region issues or somesuch, we can't tell. All we do know for certain is that you can now play Soulstice via PS Plus Extra on both PS5 and PS4. That also means that PS5 owners can access two versions of Soulstice's trophy list, giving you an extra platinum trophy to earn on PS Plus!

That said, fair warning: Soulstice already holds a spot on our hardest PS Plus platinum trophies list. The game holds a 0.30% completion rate on PS5, and far fewer own the platinum on PS4. Will you be among the first to earn that Soulstice PS4 platinum trophy? Stake your claim down in the comments below.
