While very few players have all the Gran Turismo 7 trophies, plenty are jumping into the driver's seat for a hot lap every month. Since our Gran Turismo 7 review the game has been receiving plenty of updates and, with the Gran Turismo 7 update for August 2023, we have more events, scapes, and Car Cafe menus, but also four new cars two of which are stuck behind a time-gate.

The Gran Turismo 7 update is labeled as version 1.36 and is ready for download right now and clocks in at 1.27GB on PS5 (also available on PS4), with full patch notes finally being made available for one of the best racing games on PlayStation. While we are listing the four new cars available as part of the update below, it's worth noting that only two are available.

Gran Turismo 7 new cars

  • Chevrolet Corvette C1 ’58 — Legends Cars, 126,000cr (limited availability)
  • Maserati MC20 ’20 — Brand Central, 300,000cr
  • Toyota Ambulance Himedic ’21 — Brand Central, N/A
  • Toyota GR Corolla Morizo Edition – Brand Central, N/A
The two unavailable cars will be made available through the Brand Central store in late September. However, the ambulance will be made available as a reward for checking out the Nations Cup for the GT World Series on Saturday, August 12, 2023. As for the other car, the Toyota GR Carolla, there is a free practice event that features the car. You can play the Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup (round seven) at Road Atlanta and enter an online event before Sunday, August 27, 2023.
In addition, the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 ’18 from the Gran Turismo movie will be made available for free by completing an in-game event. There's also a pretty on-brand livery in Brand Central for the vehicle as well. We also have more car menus to collect, though all three require expensive cars to access. We've listed them below alongside the new races included in the World Circuit.

Gran Turismo 7 new car menus

  • Menu Book 26 — Maserati (req. MC20, Merak, and A6GCS/53 Spyder)
  • Menu Book 27 — Aston Martin (req. Valkyrie, DB11, and DB5)
  • Menu Book 28 — Kei Cars (req. Daihatsu Copen, Honda S660, and Suzuki Cappuccino)

Gran Turismo 7 new races

  • Dragon Trail — Gardens – Hypercar Parade (95,000cr)
  • High-Speed Ring — World Touring Cars 800 (160,000cr)
  • Michelin Raceway Road, Atlanta — American Sunday Cup 600 (40,000cr)
  • Red Bull Ring — Hypercar Parade (90,000cr)

There are nine shots of the new Fukuoka Eastern Fire Station location in Scapes that you can use to take slick photos of your cars. There is a Special Picks menu in the Used Cars and Legends Cars dealerships that allow you to more easily work out what wishlist cars are on sale. With five more engine-swappable cars and UI tweaks across the game, as well as a few bug fixes and minor tweaks, this is a pretty tidy update for fans of the game.

I'm pretty excited to see car menus being constantly topped up giving single-player players something to do every month — especially given the Aston Martin theme with one. The delay on cars is going to infuriate some, but given they aren't competitive I don't know that many of the hardcore will be phased. We have the Gran Turismo movie coming out shortly, there is no doubt I'll be redownloading the game and hopping back in with many of you!

That wraps up all the patch notes for one of the best PS5 games. What do you think of the update? Happy about anything in particular? Let us know in the comments below and I will see you there!
