Plenty of players have decided to pick up Remnant II trophies this week as the PlayStation Chart of the top 40 most popular PS5 and PS4 games shows. Scanning over 3 million active PSN accounts to make the final standings, just take a look at how some of the best PS5 games stack up.

Final Fantasy XVI popularity on the wane for PS5

If we first take a look at Final Fantasy XVI in tenth place, we can see that the JRPG might be wonderful (just check out Lee's Final Fantasy 16 review) but it also has a finite time that it can offer players. Now everyone is beginning to wrap it up it's dropped away from the top five totally — a place it occupied for a long while after release — and will now sink like a stone. That has given rise to the likes of Diablo IV and Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, which is free on PS Plus at the moment.
Remnant II is having quite the first week as it debuts in 22nd place on the chart. The original was a really huge hit, gaining plenty of praise for being a solid co-op shooter in a time without. Now the sequel has come blasting through with this impressive first-week player count. If it can generate more word-of-mouth success, it'll be sure to climb even further!

Check out Lee's latest deep dive into the chart with the Crash Team Rumble PS5 players. What do you think of the most popular games? Is anything sticking out to you?
