Dreams trophies come to PS Plus discontinued and unobtainable

One of the new PS Plus' additions sits rather strange, as Dreams trophies are currently discontinued and Media Molecule is set to stop support in September.

The Dreams trophies were revealed to be a part of the PS Plus Essential games of August 2023. However, considering that the game will cease to be supported come September and how some Dreams trophies are discontinued, we have to wonder: why bring it to PS Plus at all?

PS Plus Essential adds unobtainable Dreams trophies

PS Plus Essential always seems to provide some form of live-service title each month — although usually these games have either just recently launched or bring a strong active player base with them. This is what makes Dreams' inclusion in the August 2023 PS Plus games so strange, as it was announced that all support for the game would cease on Friday, September 1, 2023 — pretty much making Dreams dead on arrival.
In our obtainable Dreams trophies article, we discuss how five of the trophies were going to receive modifications to ensure players could still earn them after the servers get reshuffled and closed down. While four of these trophies appear to have been modified and fixed up so they can still be obtainable, one of them is yet to see the same results. 'Pop all the Bubbles' is currently discontinued, leaving the platinum trophy completely unobtainable.

Media Molecule still has a whole month of support left to give Dreams before its bows out forever, so we have our fingers crossed that this trophy sees a fix before it's too late. It really feels like a catch-22 scenario, as players will want to jump in now and play content before it gets removed and they miss out on some truly stellar creations other players have crafted. Yet, on the other hand, the platinum is currently unobtainable and if it never sees a fix, this would be a nasty blemish on our trophy lists — especially as we know it's out of our control and can't be obtained.
Personally, I am surprised Sony gave the thumbs up for this title as part of this month's Essential games. Maybe it's just an oversight, or — best case scenario — maybe Media Molecule is testing the waters and seeing if the game's inclusion on PS Plus could potentially revitalize the game. That's obviously mere speculation on my part — nothing has been suggested like that at all by any party. It's just a shame, as I, for one, will not be jumping into this game until I have confirmation that I will be able to obtain its platinum. If that time never comes, then it will be a real missed opportunity, as Dreams does look genuinely fun.

What do you make of this whole ordeal? Disappointed with Dreams' inclusion? Disappointed with the Essential line-up altogether?
