Fans who have already collected all of the Final Fantasy XVI trophies and who now find their lives woefully lacking in meaning, rejoice! After initially revealing that no additional Final Fantasy XVI DLC plans were in the works, the devs at Square Enix now seem more than willing to consider expanding on one of the best PS5 games so far with new content.

Final Fantasy XVI DLC demand could result in a new Final Fantasy spin-off

The news comes via Genki on Twitter, who uploaded an interview with Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida being asked about DLC plans now that the game has launched. In response, Yoshida reaffirms that no plans have started as they were waiting to see fan reactions, but that FFXVI DLC is now definitely something Square Enix is considering.

Yoshida says: "Now we understand that we're getting feedback from players that have played the game, and a lot of players want to see more DLC, and we know and understand that. For us, we're taking that and then thinking about our options moving forward, so hopefully in the future we can have something that we can give to you all."

Yoshida had spoken previously about the need for fan demand to clarify whether there would be FFXVI DLC, so it's interesting to hear that whatever amount of feedback he and the team were looking to hear before pushing ahead has now seemingly been reached. However, you'll note that Yoshida does not specify himself that this fan demand will result in DLC for the game, and that's because it might also result in Square Enix developing a Final Fantasy XVI spin-off instead.

Final Fantasy XVIFFXVI-2, starring Jill. Could it happen?

Speaking to GameInformer earlier in the year, Yoshida stated there were no plans for DLC, but then said: "We have no idea if people are going to fall in love with Valisthea and fall in love with Clive’s story and want to see more of the world and more of its characters. So while we always want to consider DLC or spinoffs or those types of things where you can learn more about the game, first we want to see if Valisthea and Clive are really things players around the world want to see more of and then make that decision."

Well, either way, Yoshida must be under the impression that you want to see more of Valisthea and Clive — though how that could be, I have no idea, personally the 65 hours I spent with those two in my Final Fantasy XVI review was more than enough for me. Would you play some Final Fantasy XVI DLC, or a full spin-off? Let us know in the comments below!
