Whether this means that the AIBO collectible has simply been delayed until a future update, or whether the entire campaign has been canceled permanently, has yet to be revealed. In the AIBO collectible's place, you'll be able to earn a fun PS1 demo disc-inspired reward simply by playing PS Plus trials this month. You can also learn more about the canceled campaign in the original story below.Original Story: Once again proving that the word "PlayStation" has often very little to do with the "PlayStation and You" line of PlayStation Stars campaigns, the latest addition lets PS Stars users add a Sony AIBO collectible to your PSN account. However, very few of you will likely qualify for this robot dog collectible, and those who do will probably still need to contact Sony via our PlayStation Stars guide.Tragically, this isn't the AIBO model you'll be earning.Sony AIBO collectible comes to PlayStation StarsThe new AIBO collectible was spotted over on Twitter by PSSCollectibles, joining the Sony Glasstron PLM-A35 in having nothing to do with the PlayStation brand despite being available as a collectible under the "PlayStation and You" umbrella. To claim the AIBO collectible for your PS Stars collection, you'll need to activate the campaign once it goes live sometime in July 2023 on the PS App, then play any PS5 and PS4 game to unlock. While the AIBO has been around since 1999 and most will likely recognize the first-generation models of AIBO, the PS Stars reward actually depicts one of the fifth-generation models of Sony's robo-pup, the AIBO ERS-1000. In fact, for the PS Stars campaign to appear at all, you'll need to have owned an AIBO ERS-1000 for yourself. You'll also need to have paired it to the same Sony account that your PSN account is linked to, so congratulations to all four of you who will be claiming this puppy for their PS Stars collection. This is the AIBO you can earn in PS Stars. He's quote-unquote "cuter."The AIBO does make an appearance in the PS Plus Premium title Tokyo Jungle, honestly, Sony's robotic dog definitely needs to have more of a presence on PlayStation. In my head, if Astro Bot is Sony's answer to Mario, then AIBO should absolutely be Astro Bot's Yoshi. That would obviously make for one of the best PS5 games ever made, right?
