PS Plus Premium will let you stream your digital PS5 games soon

By Lee Brady,

PS Plus Premium subscribers will be able to stream PS5 games without needing to download them in the near future.

If you've checked out our PlayStation Plus PC guide, you'll know that PS Plus Premium subscribers currently cannot stream any of the best PS5 games, even if they're available in the PS Plus Game Catalog. However, all that's set to change soon as Sony has announced PS5 game streaming for PS Plus Premium is currently in the testing phase.

PS PlusSoon we can play the PS5 version of God of War Ragnarok without the massive download!

Cloud streaming for PS5 games announced PS Plus

Announced via the PlayStation Blog, the PS5 cloud streaming update will let PS Plus Premium subscribers play their digital PS5 games, plus any PS5 games available on PS Plus, without having to download the game itself. No mention of whether PS Plus Premium subscribers can use their PS4 or PC to play PS5 games is made, suggesting the feature will be exclusive to PS5 owners — at least in this first instance.

According to Sony, the new PS5 cloud streaming feature will include "PS5 titles from the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Game Trials, as well as supporting digital PS5 titles that players own." Sony has yet to announce a release window for the feature but asks us to "stay tuned" for future updates.

PS PlusAll part of the big PS Plus celebration.
