By Lee Brady,

Star Wars Outlaws is a new open-world adventure game coming to PS5 next year that sees the franchise trading lightsabers for blasters.

While Star Wars Outlaws trophies were hinted at with its reveal among all the PS5 games at the Xbox Showcase 2023, the new open-world Star Wars Outlaws gameplay trailer confirms the game is coming to PS5 in 2024. Star Wars Outlaws confirmed for PS5 in new Ubisoft Forward trailer

It feels like we only just got our hands on the last PS5 Star Wars adventure with those Star Wars Jedi Survivor trophies, but here comes Ubisoft Massive storming out the gate with its take on the venerable franchise. Best known for creating the first two Division games, the studio is also listed as the main developer of the upcoming Avatar Frontiers of Pandora on PS5, so no doubt it's been a hectic few years for the developers.

The new Star Wars Outlaws trailer plays close to Massive's strengths with a focus on gunfights and open-world scrounging, but the simple veneer of Star Wars and a touch of roleplaying and spaceship piloting it does add a touch more charm to the usual Ubisoft format. There's slow-mo blasting and hoverbikes, but there's also a bit more stealth than we're used to seeing from Cal Kestis. See Kay and her little buddle Nix to activate switches and fetch items in the Star Wars Outlaws PS5 gameplay trailer below:
