Sony re-adds PS4 game and removes PS5 game in messy PS Plus reveal

By Sean Lawson,

Sony's latest PS Plus Extra and Premium games announcement has been updated to add Story of Seasons back to the roster.

Update 2: While Story Of Seasons is back in the roster for all you farming enthusiasts, the Soundfall trophies have now been revoked from the line-up everywhere except Japan and Asia. We're sorry for all of you who were excited about this PS5 title joining PS Plus Extra in Europe and NA.

Update 1: It looks like we may still be able to earn those Story of Seasons Friends of Mineral Town trophies after all. The game has quietly been added back into the announcement article for the PS Plus Extra and Premium new games of May 2023. However, the game is lacking any form of description and is legitimately just a title and an image unlike everything else in the article — maybe this is just another error from Sony.

Original Story: That's right, the latest batch of PS Plus Extra and Premium new games of May 2023 had a discrepancy that has since been quietly patched up. Sony originally announced that Story of Seasons Friends of Mineral Town would be joining PS Plus Extra, but has since removed the PS4 game from the announcement article. We feel sorry for anyone who was excited to earn those Story of Seasons Friends of Mineral Town trophies.

Story of Seasons Friends of Mineral Town was incorrectly announced for PS Plus Extra

This isn't the first time something like this has happened. Back in January of this year, Sony announced Sayonara Wild Hearts for PS Plus Extra, only to swiftly remove it from the article hours later. Sayonara Wild Hearts is yet to actually land on PS Plus, so we can anticipate that Story of Seasons Friends of Mineral Town will also not be joining the service any time soon.

This means instead of 23 games joining PS Plus Extra and Premium this month, we will actually be getting 22. While not a number to scoff at, we would much rather see that number increase rather than decrease. This information comes directly from the original announcement blog post from Sony.

sos friends of mineral town ps4Are you sad you won't get to play this game on PS Plus Extra?

It really is quite mind-boggling how errors like this keep slipping by Sony, alas, there is nothing much else that can be done about it. Unfortunately, none of us will be taking a trip to Mineral Town anytime soon, unless you own a physical copy of the game that is. What do you make of the fiasco? Disappointed this game isn't coming to PS Plus? Let us know all your thoughts and feelings in the comments below!
