PS Plus is losing 19 free PS4 games soon — make sure to claim ASAP

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,

PS Plus users with a PS5 are set to lose access to 19 'free' PS4 games in May 2023, including God of War and Uncharted 4.

In case you missed it, support for the PS Plus Collection is ending on May 9th, 2023, meaning PS5 owners with PS Plus Essential will lose access to 19 'free' PS4 games. This comes in addition to the list of 35 games leaving PlayStation Plus Extra this month, as well.

PlayStation Plus Collection on PS5 final call

If you are a PS Plus Essential subscriber — the lowest tier of PS Plus — and you own a PS5, then you are entitled to 19 PS4 games as part of the PlayStation Plus Collection. This selection of games is pretty much a lineup of the best PS4 games, featuring the likes of God of War, Uncharted 4 A Thief's End, and more. Now, on May 9th, 2023, these titles will be disappearing from the service.

You can claim all 19 games via the PlayStation Store on your PS5 console by heading to the PS Plus tab. You will be entitled to download and play every game you claim for your collection in perpetuity, even after the PS Plus Collection ceases to exist on May 9th. So, we highly suggest that you go through and add every game to your library so you can dive in whenever you want. Here are all 19 games leaving with the PlayStation Plus Game Collection alongside each title's trophy lists.

Why are these games leaving PS Plus, then? Well, Sony clearly designed the PS Plus Games Collection as an incentive for players to become early adopters of the PS5. At launch, PS Plus subscribers had access to 20 games — Persona 5 has since left the PS Plus Game Collection — thus making the transition less painful for players keen on picking up the pricy bit of kit on launch. It also served as a 'catch-up on PS4 collection' for players who transitioned from Xbox or for new players altogether. The list of games is pretty much non-stop quality, making the collection well worth paying a year of PS Plus for.

Have you played all these games? Will you be picking up any stragglers? Let us know in the comments below, and I'm sure we will see you there!
