PS Plus monthly games for April 2023 predictions

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,

PS Plus Essential monthly games for April already have one of the three PS5 and PS4 games announced, so let's try and predict the other two games.

With Meet Your Maker trophies on the docket and our Meet Your Maker first impressions here for PS Plus Essential subscribers already, we are logging our predictions for the two other 'free' monthly PS Plus games for April 2023 on PS5 and PS4. Will any games make the best PS Plus games if they do arrive on the service?

The opportunity to collect those Sifu trophies through PS Plus Essential would be a dream come true for many who have had an eye on it on our best PS5 games list (it's also on PS4). The action game brings plenty of fight and beauty to the screen and sticks with some occasionally hard-as-nails scraps. It'd be a great single-player counter to the multiplayer of Meet Your Maker.

It's a risky guess, though. Developer SloClap has a penchant for PS Plus having released its previous game, Absolver, through the service — but the game is still only a year old. With that year of sales, a release on all consoles, and over 1 million players collected, we wonder if it's time for Sony — who put so much money into the promotional cycle — to now give SloClap a second payday with PS Plus. It's also just got another patch, so it'd be prepped for PS Plus!

Sherlock Holmes Chapter One

Frogwares-developed Sherlock Holmes Chapter One is firmly in that fun AA space. Indeed, the action-adventure should be getting a sequel at some point, but for now, Frogwares is developing a remake of its old Sherlock game, Sherlock Holmes The Awakened (releasing April 11th, 2023). We think that leaves a door open that suggests we could be collecting Sherlock Holmes Chapter One trophies sometime soon.

With a PS5 and PS4 release of Chapter One available and a chance to advertise its upcoming PS5 and PS4 game, it might be an irritable chance for Frogwares to cash in and enjoy a last Sherlock spurt before the next one comes along. It might simply be too close to release and end up butchering its own game — but we like to believe the Sherlock love is strong enough that it'd be fine.

Do you think either of these games could be on the list of PS Plus Essential games for April 2023? Looking forward to Meet Your Maker? Let us know in the comments, and see you there!
