System Shock's PS4 reboot is slated for March 2023, but — outside of a demo and previews — we have heard nothing from Nightdive Studio about the incumbent sci-fi FPS game. If you are anything like us, then you have been eagerly awaiting the hunt for a fresh set of System Shock trophies to match the fresh graphical overhaul this 1994 FPS reboot will sport. However, we have now entered the March 2023 period System Shock was scheduled to release in and it has been very quiet for one of the imminent upcoming PS5 and PS4 games of 2023. However, while the game at that point was supposed to see release at an unknown 2022 date, it has since been quietly pushed back to 2023. In January, the game's developers added that System Shock's new release window would be March 2023. We are now in that March 2023 window and life has been quiet for the PS4 title. There has been some movement, but not in the form of release date announcements, new trailers, or big interviews. A new beta demo was released on PC on March 3rd, as announced by developer Nightdive on Twitter, which made good on an outstanding Kickstarter goal promised by the team all the way back in 2015. Now, we know what you are thinking — beta in the same month as the launch? Us too — we can't explain it, we just wanted to acknowledge it. Other System Shock activity has included a new magazine cover and some preview coverage from the Beta, but that's been it. The last update was that post about March 2023, which detailed that "the scope and scale of the project has evolved dramatically and with Prime Matter joining the project it’s enabled us to focus on quality-of-life improvements, bug fixing, and localization support." It seems that either System Shock is preparing for a shadow drop — or it has been pushed back. Given the silence, we are hoping for the former, but we're expecting the latter. While March 2023 is still the game's official launch target, our experience covering The Little Devil Inside's missing release date has us prepared for the worst. Anyhoo, let us know what your thinking about this March 2023 release in the comments! Will it hit? Or will it slip? Let us know down there!
