Dragon Age Origins writer wants a remaster for the "brand new PS5-era" By Sean Lawson, 27 Feb 2023 FollowtopicsDragon Age: OriginsElectronic ArtsPlayStation 5PlayStation 4Sean Lawson With the success that BioWare saw with Mass Effect Legendary Edition, a Dragon Age Origins remaster would certainly make sense. It's been a long time since the Dragon Age Origins trophies landed on PS3 and we were given the opportunity to dive into one of the best PS3 games out there. However, we could have a brand new trophy list and a Dragon Age Origins PS5 remaster if the game's original writer gets his way.Dragon Age Origins may receive a Remaster after the success of the Mass Effect Legendary Edition!Could Dragon Age Origins receive the Mass Effect treatment?David Gaider, the lead writer of all three Dragon Age games, took to Twitter to talk about how incredible a Dragon Age Origins remaster would be — and we must concur with this fact. Please, BioWare, make this happen. Dragon Age Origins is widely looked upon as the best title in the DA franchise and we imagine it would be a joyous occasion to see the game getting some love and a fresh lick of paint.Gaider had this to say on a DAO remaster: "If we're on a kick re-mastering games from the aughts, what about Dragon Age Origins? Its graphics were behind the curve even at the time of release... can you imagine it with brand new PS5-era bells and whistles?"Dragon Age Origins is an absolute blast of a title to play! It's worth pointing out that a remaster and a remake are two different things that often get confused with one another. A remake is something that is built from the ground up like Resident Evil 2 or Dead Space. A remaster, on the other hand, sees many enhancements to the game but requires far less time and effort to achieve, such as the likes of the recent Witcher 3 remaster — though it is still a time-consuming endeavour for studios to undertake.Gaider responded to fans in the comments section of his tweet and pointed out a variety of improvements he would like to see involving new models for a majority of the characters (as all female models in DAO used the male animation rig), more body shapes to choose from, slimy nipple textures (okay), and that he would be happy with Dragon Age Inquisition-level graphics.BioWare is currently busy with Dragon Age DreadwolfWhile there is no confirmation that this remaster idea has even crossed BioWare's mind, it really is a fantastic opportunity for the studio and one that could prove a big success if it was to pursue it. It's worth remembering that BioWare is currently busy conjuring up those Dragon Age Dreadwolf trophies and probably doesn't have the time to focus on a big endeavour like remastering Dragon Age Origins. However, if Dreadwolf proves a hit, maybe BioWare may consider a DAO remaster. While we all wait impatiently, make sure to check out our key takeaways from the recent Dragon Age Dreadwolf gameplay leak.
