Wondering what comes next after beating 2023's Assassin's Creed Mirage on PS5? Well, in this article, we'll break down all of the announced and rumored upcoming Assassin's Creed games and whether or not they're coming to PS5. There are currently 10 Assassin's Creed games reportedly in the works, so don't worry, your fight against the Templars is far from over.

Assassin's Creed Shadows is the next big PS5 game in the series

We've now got Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Assassin's Creed Mirage on PS5, but what comes next? Well, the next PS5 Assassin's Creed game is Assassin's Creed Shadows — the official name for the previously announced Assassin's Creed Red.

Assassin's Creed Shadows was finally revealed in a showcase on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, with its release date rumored to drop sometime in Late 2024. However, that's only the next entry for fans looking to play the Assassin's Creed games in order. There's plenty to come after that, so check out the full list of upcoming Assassin's Creed games below!

Assassin's Creed Shadows

  • Release Date: Summer 2024
  • Will it launch on PS5? Yes
  • Setting and Time Period: 16th Century Japan
After having plenty of Assassin's Creed Red's details leak online, Ubisoft have finally come and revealed the game with a new title: Assassin's Creed Shadows.

According to the leaks, Shadows will see a return to the Assassin's Creed Syndicate dual-protagonist system, letting players swap between an African samurai and a female shinobi as they make their way across feudal Japan. The game is rumored to launch Summer 2024, so keep your eyes peeled for this one in the near future.

ACAC Infinity.

Assassin's Creed Infinity

  • Release Date: TBA 2024
  • Will it launch on PS5? Yes
  • Setting and Time Period: Various
We've been keeping an ear out for news regarding Assassin's Creed Infinity on PS5, as it's easily the most ambitious project the franchise has announced so far. We know for a fact that it is coming to PS5, though you might be surprised to learn it's not exactly a "game" in and of itself.

Assassin's Creed Infinity appears to be something of a hub for future AC games — one that will launch on PS5 sometime in 2024 alongside Assassin's Creed Red. The Infinity hub will also reportedly connect to the later Codename Hexe release. Ubisoft seems to have further plans for the project (including battle pass plans), although those have yet to be confirmed.

Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe

  • Release Date: Rumored 2025
  • Will it launch on PS5? Yes
  • Setting and Time Period: 16th Century Germany
While there's not much to look at for this one just yet, we've picked out as many secrets in the Assassin's Creed Hexe trailer as we could back in 2022. Initially teased at the same time as Assassin's Creed Shadows, the game is rumored to be part of Assassin's Creed Infinity and might involve a little bit of witchcraft. Well, historical witchcraft at least, which is less magical than it is tragic.

ACAC Invictus.

Assassin's Creed Codename Invictus

  • Release Date: TBA
  • Will it launch on PS5? Yes
  • Setting and Time Period: Unknown
A standalone Assassin's Creed multiplayer game with For Honor alumni reportedly on board, there's still very little known about this online game. Supposedly, it will connect to Assassin's Creed Infinity, which does suggest that Assassin's Creed Codename Invictus will come to PS5 someday. We just don't know much more about it, and there's always the possibility that the game has been canceled quietly in recent years.

Assassin's Creed Jade

  • Release Date: Delayed to 2025
  • Will it launch on PS5? No
  • Setting and Time Period: 215 BCE China
Assassin's Creed Jade brings the series to Ancient China and will usher in another return to the classic series formula. However, unfortunately it will all happen away from the PlayStation platform as Assasin's Creed Jade is not coming to PS5. It's a mobile phone release, complete with character customization, and while we're still excited about it generally, the lack of trophies does make it a much harder sell.

ACAC Nexus 2.

Assassin's Creed Nexus 2

  • Release Date: TBA
  • Will it launch on PS5? Maybe, but not likely
  • Setting and Time Period: Various; expect a return to a period around 421 BCE Greece
A report from Insider Gaming helped bring to light various ongoing Assassin's Creed projects in the works, one of which will reportedly be a sequel Assassin's Creed Nexus VR. Given that Nexus VR didn't launch on PS5 (even with PS VR2 being available), we're not hopeful that this one will come to PS5 either. These games have been co-funded by Meta, so we expect they'll stay exclusive to Meta VR.

ACAC Nebula.

Assassin's Creed Codename Nebula

  • Release Date: TBA, potentially 2026
  • Will it launch on PS5? TBA, but probably yes
  • Setting and Time Period: 16th Century India and Aztec Empire, potentially
Rumored to feature a story that moves between India, the Aztec Empire, and the Mediterranean, Assassin's Creed Codename Nebula is reportedly in the works at Ubisoft Sofia — the team behind Assassin's Creed Rogue. It's seemingly in early pre-production, so we have no idea if Nebula is coming to PS5, though if it's anything like the size of Assassin's Creed Rogue or Mirage, then we could easily see it coming to PS5 someday.

ACAC Raid.

Assassin's Creed Codename Raid

  • Release Date: TBA
  • Will it launch on PS5? TBA, but probably no
  • Setting and Time Period: Various
This one is a free-to-play four-player cooperative game that sounds like a spin-off from Assassin's Creed Unity and is currently in the works at Ubisoft Chengdu. Given that this is the studio that recently developed the rather light Rabbids: Party of Legends, we suspect Assassin's Creed Codename Raid isn't targeting a PS5 release and is instead to launch on smartphones. However, that's entirely speculation, and we'd love to be told otherwise.

ACAC Echoes.

Assassin's Creed Codename Echoes

  • Release Date: TBA
  • Will it launch on PS5? TBA, but probably yes
  • Setting and Time Period: Unknown
Coming from Ubisoft Annecy, the studio behind big-budget Ubisoft experiments like Riders Republic and Steep, Assassin's Creed Codename Echoes will reportedly use Ubisoft's Scalar cloud technology to deliver a new multiplayer experience for the series.

That's the kind of big-scale experiment that absolutely screams 'new tech.' So, in this case, we're willing to bet that Assassin's Creed Codename Echoes comes to PS5. That said, we know so little about this game right now that it could easily be coming out on PS6 or get canceled before it ever sees the light of day.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remake

  • Release Date: TBA 2024
  • Will it launch on PS5? Yes
  • Setting and Time Period: 18th Century West Indies
Well, ahoy! Rumors suggest an Assassin's Creed Black Flag PS5 remake is in the works! That's certainly very exciting for us AC fans looking to see the best Assassin's Creed in the series reworked with modern graphics. That said, there's a chance this will be a little more complicated than just a graphical update, so let's not get too excited until we see the game in action.

That's everything we know about the upcoming Assassin's Creed games coming to PS5. Will we see any of these new games top Black Flag on our list of the best Assassin's Creed games? We'll just have to wait to find out! Let us know which AC games you're looking forward to playing in the near future down in the comments below.
