PS5 gem Returnal performs half as well as Sony's last PC port By Sean Lawson, 20 Feb 2023 FollowtopicsReturnalSony Interactive EntertainmentPlayStation PCPlayStation 5Sean Lawson PS5 darling Returnal has performed 50% worse than Sony's last PlayStation PC venture, Marvel's Spider-Man Miles Morales.Returnal trophies might not be earnable on PC, but for fans who have waited for this PS5 roguelike to come to Steam, the time has finally arrived. However, unlike the success of Marvel's Spider-Man Miles Morales, Returnal has not seen the same pull. Returnal has only received half the amount of concurrent players of Miles Morales and is now one of the worst-performing PC ventures for Sony. Returnal hasn't managed to capture as big of an audience as Sony would have liked!Returnal is the second-worst-performing PlayStation PC title from SonySpotted by VGC, Returnal is now Sony's second-worst-performing PC Port, just behind still one of the best PlayStation co-op games, Sackboy A Big Adventure. This once PS5 exclusive title sits with just 6,691 concurrent players according to SteamDB. This is actually ten times better than Sackboy's measly 610 concurrent players, yet still pales in comparison to the allure of God of War which managed to pull in nearly 74,000 concurrent players.PlayStation PC highest concurrent players from February 20th, 2023God of War — 73,529Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered — 66,436Horizon Zero Dawn — 56,557Days Gone — 27,450Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales — 13,539Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection — 10,851Returnal — 6,691Sackboy: A Big Adventure — 610Does Returnal deserve more love than this? While concurrent players don't equate to active players, the small number is still a disappointing sight and doesn't bode well for future sales. Returnal has managed to reach the 165th spot on the most-played Steam games in the past 24 hours, which is as good as it sounds — i.e. not good at all. This does make us wonder how future PlayStation releases may fare once released, our eyes are glued on The Last of Us Part 1 to see if they are able to pull a larger audience than that of Returnal, Sackboy, and even Miles Morales. What do you make of all of this? Surprised to see Returnal with such mediocre numbers? Or do you think the game is receiving the correct amount of attention for what it offers? One thing is for sure, it's doing far better than Sackboy.
