Game Pass is losing seven games — will they come to PS Plus?

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,

Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass is losing seven games in February 2023's second batch of outgoings. What could come to Sony's PS Plus Extra and Premium service?

While the PS Plus Extra, Premium new games for February 2023 are superb, subscription services are always rotating catalogues of games. So, will PS Plus Extra and Premium add the seven games leaving Xbox Game Pass in February 2023?

Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Returns coming to PS Plus Extra?Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Returns coming to PS Plus Extra?

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII — Likely

The PS3-era game is the final entry for the conscientious XIII trilogy. For players who have already collected all the Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII trophies in the 40 to 50 hours, we imagine you won't need another run at the game when Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII likely arrives on PS Plus Premium in the future. Square Enix and Sony share a special bond, probably strengthed by considerable paychecks, and the pair have consistently been willing to put games front and centre of subscription services. Expect more sexy JRPG action in your PS Plus future!

Octopath Traveller — Unlikely

Never say never, but Octopath Traveller is unlikely given it doesn't even have a PS4 or PS5 port yet. Even odder is that we are going to be collecting Octopath Traveller II trophies very soon, but Xbox won't be. Baffled? Us too. If the first game ever comes to PlayStation, then there is the possibility that it ends up on PS Plus Extra, but even then that would be well after it launched and sold enough copies to justify a PS Plus Extra fee. Octopath Traveller is therefore unlikely to come to PS Plus.

The Trigger 1Alien Isolation is a likely PS Plus Extra candidate

Alien Isolation — Likely

There is a possibility we all survive a ship stalked by the skin of our teeth in the near future, just trying to get to the next save point for a little more progress with the Alien Isolation trophies. This fabulous horror title is pretty much a bargain bin on every sale while remaining a top-of-the-pile horror experience. That makes it a contender for the games likely to end up in PS Plus Extra. It's not as certain as Lightning Returns, but Alien Isolation's chances of turning up on PS Plus are higher than pretty much everything else.

Crown Trick — Maybe

Everyone loves an indie, but we think that those who have grabbed all the Crown Trick trophies would tell you that roguelike lovers should rejoice if they see this coming to PS Plus. The well-received game has clearly had its time of exclusivity in Game Pass, but we aren't so sure it'll be added to PS Plus Extra any time soon. It's too soon after the previous deal expired and — while Sony could have negotiated to get a PS Plus deal — we wonder if Crown Trick is only a PS Plus possibility for now.

Madden NFL 21 — Never

Madden NFL 21 trophies will never be yours via PS Plus. It's an old version of a yearly sports title and EA has a propensity to just add it to the EA Access subscription service until no one plays it anymore, then turn off the servers. Done and dusted. Madden NFL 21 won't come to PS Plus.

VegetaVegeta can be found on PS Plus Extra

DragonBall FighterZ — PlayStation Plus Extra

You can begin collecting Dragon Ball FighterZ trophies right now if you are a PS Plus Extra member, as Dragon Ball FighterZ was added in PS Plus Extra and Premium new games for January 2023.

Far Changing Tides — Unlikely

Grabbing all the Far Changing Tides trophies is a peaceful experience — it's a shame that this is probably not going to happen via PS Plus anytime soon. The first game, Far Lone Sails, is a perpetual prediction in our monthly games list, but it's yet to arrive. If that ever does drop into PS Plus Essential or Extra, then we think the sequel will become more likely. Until then, though, Far Changing Tides is unlikely to come to PS Plus.

TrueAchievements have the full list of Game Pass leaving soon for February 2023, so do check that out if you are interested in the world of Xbox. Until then, agree with our picks? Disagree? Let us know in the comments!
