PS Plus still the best deal for Ubisoft games after latest Xbox reveal

By Lee Brady,

PS Plus will still offer the best value subscription service for Ubisoft games after a recent Xbox reveal suggests Ubisoft+ will not join Game Pass and will remain its own separate subscription scheme on Microsoft hardware.

PS Plus Extra offering Ubisoft+ as part of its subscription, as per the Ubisoft-PlayStation deal announced last year, continues to offer the best value subscription scheme for Ubisoft games. Rumours of Xbox Game Pass potentially also adding Ubisoft+ put a shade of doubt on the matter, but news that Ubisoft+ will be a separate scheme on Xbox consoles means PS Plus Extra is still the best deal for playing Ubisoft games like Assassin's Creed.

PS Plus Extra still the best value for Assassin's Creed and Far Cry fans

The reveal comes via our sister site, TrueAchievements, which has gotten hold of an advanced list of Ubisoft+ games coming to Xbox. As well as reconfirming that Ubisoft+ will not be coming to Game Pass, instead offering its games as a separate subscription on Xbox consoles, the list confirms that almost all the titles offered by Ubisoft+ on Xbox are already available on PS Plus Extra.

PS Plus Extra lost Assassin's Creed Valhalla in December last year, so you won't be able to play the latest entry in the series with your subscription any more. Far Cry 6, Watch Dogs Legion, Immortals Fenyx Rising, and Rayman Legends are also some of the big missing titles, though we might expect some of these to join PS Plus in the coming months as more games get added to the service.

Ubisoft Plus PS PlusStill some of the most popular games around, despite recent troubles.

The vast majority of the draw for Ubisoft+ however, like the best Assassin's Creed games and the rest of the Far Cry catalogue, are all available on PS Plus Extra — on top of the excellent array of first- and third-party PS5 and PS4 games. A price for Ubisoft+ on Xbox has yet to be revealed, but as TrueAchievements point out, the monthly cost of Ubisoft's subscription scheme on PC is £12.99 / $14.99 / €14.99. Comparatively, PS Plus Extra goes for £10.99 / $14.99 / €13.99 — generally cheaper, unless you live in the US for some cruel reason.

That's not to diminish Game Pass' value entirely — its limited access to EA Play is roughly comparable to PlayStation's limited access to Ubisoft+. If you're in the market for a subscription scheme with Ubisoft games included, the best value you can find is definitely on PS5 and PS4 consoles with a PS Plus Extra subscription.

Let us know in the comments what your thoughts on Ubisoft+ coming to Xbox are, and whether the truest value choice — just picking up the games you actually want on sale — is your personal Ubisoft subscription scheme.
