Dead Space and Forspoken debut on most played PS5, PS4 games chart By Kes Eylers-Stephenson, 30 Jan 2023 FollowtopicsChartKes Eylers-Stephenson Dead Space and Forspoken are making their PS5 debut on the most popular PlayStation games chart, while TLOU continues to rise. Meanwhile, Call of Duty, Fortnite, and FIFA continue to dominate the top video games.Dead Space and Forspoken are now out and making enough positive waves for us to think about putting it on our best PS5 games list. While they haven't rocked to stratospheric levels yet, with only a few days on the market each there is no need to be scared of the results quite yet.Since the original publication, we have compiled player numbers for Forspoken. The error was due to various conflating demo and product SKUs.Dead Space makes it's debut on PS5 with scary positionThe Dead Space PS5 reviews are in and glowing about everything except the new voice work — but EA's remake only debuts at 33rd on our chart. Let's start out by saying it has only had three days on the market before the chart was compiled, so the number should shoot up next week. However, that 32nd isn't secure as it finished with 0.9% more than Dragon Ball FighterZ in 33rd. Above it in 31st rests Horizon Forbidden West with 14% more players — that is a significant margin from a debut remaster of a horror classic compared to a 9-month-old game. We'll have to check again next week before we can really draw conclusions. Forspoken, given its timid critical reception even in our more positive Forspoken review, has probably achieved higher results than expected. Sitting six places above Dead Space in 27th, Square Enix's latest RPG is perhaps picking up more traffic than expected over its few days on the market. However, it is important to be aware that we have untangled the demo players from the 'real game' players for this final position — our devs are reporting that more people are playing the demo version than the actual game. This means you should take this number and position as people who are playing a purchased, full version of Forspoken and we will bring you more comprehensive numbers next week. However, our initial raw stats indicate that the demo alone would rank at fourth on the chart if it was included. That's right, fourth — did you just see that with your freaking eyes? The Last of Us Part 1Then we have our high-flying The Last of Us Part I rising one place to 14th. Let's all say the reason it's doing so well together now: "The Last of Us on HBO!" That's right. As we covered last week, pretty much anything with the IP name in is flying thanks to a surge of interest generated by the show, just look at The Last of Us Part II rising to 28th.However, it's really important to clarify two things. Firstly, active player numbers are down across the board this week, so The Last of Us has seen a week-on-week player count decrease of 18.7%. Secondly, this is a combined number for TLOU P1 on PS5 and TLOU Remastered. This is just to help us gauge general TLOU interest, but individually the PS4 version would place in 20th — between Dead by Daylight and Back 4 Blood — while the PS5 game would place between Warframe and Brawlhalla in 35th. Forspoken enters the chartThe rest of the chart is otherwise fairly uneventful until you take a look at the re-entering trio of titles. Warframe is back again with a 36th place finish with Battlefield 2048 hunting it down in 38th. We have Cyberpunk 2077 just behind in 39th.These are the kind of games that have real low-grade sticking power, for better or worse. That wraps up our analysis of the gaming world on PlayStation.
