Marvel's Avengers will be delisted from the PlayStation Store on October 1st, 2023 with developers Crystal Dynamics ending support for the PS5 and PS4 game. What does this mean for the game's PS Plus Extra availability? Marvel's Avengers delisting comes just two and a half years into the live-service game's development, with new content coming to an end March 31st, 2023, and developer support ending six months later on September 30th, 2023. Marvel's Avengers will then be delisted from the PS Store, but will that also signal an end to its time on the PS Plus Extra catalogue? Honestly, we'd be surprised it even makes it that far. Crystal Dynamics announced Marvel's Avengers delisting on the game's blog, with the upside for fans being that the game's cosmetics have been made freely available for however long the game will continue. This might be good news for PS Plus Extra players too, as Marvel's Avengers delisting does not mean the game will no longer be playable on PS Plus Extra. Crystal Dynamics write: "Even after official support ceases on September 30, 2023, both single- and multi-player gameplay will continue to be available." The developers are also working to keep the game functioning for as long as possible too, apparently: "The changes we are making to how the game functions will ensure as long a life as possible. However, after September 30, 2023 we can’t guarantee that we will be able to address issues that occur due to unforeseen circumstances." [/img] In the website's FAQs, Crystal Dynamics are rather more vague when it comes to how Marvel's Avengers delisting will affect PS Plus Extra: "Marvel’s Avengers is available on both, and all the changes discussed in this blog will apply to the Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra versions of the game as well. For any updates, stay tuned to Xbox and PlayStation social channels." One particular snag, however, is that Marvel's Avengers might not even be on PS Plus Extra come October 2023. The title was one of the new games for PS Plus Extra and Premium in July 2022, and while licensing differs from game to game, it's very likely Marvel's Avengers only signed onto PS Plus Extra for a year. That means the game would be due to leave in July/August 2023, a few months before the game's delisting. At present, the only games available that have been delisted on the PS Store are all PS3 games on PS Plus Premium. The one delisted PS Plus Extra title — Middle-Earth Shadow of Mordor — is only delisted as a technicality, as it still exists in both PlayStation Hits and Game of the Year editions. So, if you are enjoying Marvel's Avengers on PS Plus Extra and want to continue enjoying it after the game is delisted, we recommend picking up a copy to keep at some point. Chances are the game is still very cheap physically at second-hand stores — otherwise, wait until the next big PlayStation Store sale and hope it gets a fire sale-like price. Let us know in the comments if you'll be checking this one out on PS Plus Extra now that the in-game currency has been removed.
