Forspoken just dropped a new cinematic trailer with a more serious tone for the RPG while showing off the potentially captivating story elements. The trailer has even managed to instil hope in some dubious PS5 players.
While Square Enix keeps us waiting for the Forspoken trophies, this upcoming action RPG has garnered a fair bit of attention, but not all of it has been positive. At one time this game looked as though it could make it onto our best RPG games list, a recently released demo invoked a not-so-positive reaction from once eager fans and left many uncertain if they would even purchase the game. Thankfully, a new Forspoken cinematic trailer has instilled some hope in PS5 players as the game's release date draws closer.

New Forspoken trailer impresses PS5 fans after negative reaction to the demo
The new trailer embedded below showcases Frey running through two separate chase sequences that play out in tandem with one another. We see her before and after she receives her newfound abilities to conjure up insane spells and decimate her foes. Frey looks like a badass as she hurls a flaming spear into one of her enemies before making a swift exit with her incredibly satisfying parkour skills. The trailer ends with Frey finding herself facing down some giant flowery tentacle monster — we have no idea how to describe it — and her getting a feel for her new powers.
While there is no actual gameplay footage here, the trailer does a fantastic job of hyping you up and making you want to see more of this interesting game world — even with all the negativity around it. That's certainly the impression we get after seeing a lot of positive comments after the trailer dropped. Fans expressed their excitement about the game, with a few commentators feeling cautiously optimistic after seeing this trailer. You can check out some of the comments from the YouTube video down below:
Com3whatmay307: "Wow, wasn't really interested in Forspoken early on but this trailer has won me over I want to see more!"
junioraranda1528: "I admit I want that game."
AbisaiBonOv: "I was so excited for this game but the demo left a bad taste, but I’m still hoping for the best!"
Matthewhardwick8208: "You know we should try to encourage new IPs like this. Give it a chance and if you don't like it fair enough. Perfect example recently was High on Life. Review scores weren't great but a lot of people enjoyed the game anyway."
The trailer shows off a more serious tone in comparison to other marketing material. The other content used dialogue we can only imagine was supposed to be fun and witty, yet, came off incredibly cringy and hard to watch. This more serious tone could be in response to the negativity the previously aforementioned dialogue received. Square Enix may be trying to reassure you that the game won't be a mountain of cringe — just a small molehill (this is speculation, of course). We will say that we enjoyed our time at a hands-on Forspoken preview event for the game and are feeling optimistic.
