All Forspoken spells and powers
We have categorised them into 'main spells,' 'secondary spells,' and 'passive spells' to help breakdown what the intentions of each spell are: either to be your main damage dealer, help you out in a pinch, or provide you with buffs that will go unseen during the many fights you will engage in. Now, let's dive into all of those Forspoken spells you can use on PS5.

ForspokenUse that magic Frey!

Main Spells

Frey's Magic
Shot
  • Shot is the basic main spell of 'Frey's Magic.' Firing small chunks of rocks at your enemies, you then utilise the other spells in your arsenal to finish off your combos with either an explosion, a rapid-fire attack, or create a defensive shield.
Burst Shot
  • Burst Shot is one of three main spells that you will have access to at the beginning of your adventure and will most likely be the most useful of the three to utilise within combat. Being able to end your combos with a devastating explosion that can stun your foes is an absolute dream. This spell also knocks back enemies and can potentially stun some larger foes, allowing you to either close the gap or escape to recover some health — incredibly useful in most situations.
Shield Shot
  • Shield Shot is the second of three main spells you will utilise up until chapter 6 and certainly has its uses in moments when you are facing an onslaught of enemies. The spell raises a shield formed from rocks and you can use it to block incoming attacks. It will, however, degrade over time after taking too much damage. To make the most of Shield Shot, you want to use it to hold off your foes when you are feeling overwhelmed and find an opportunity to fight back. You can fire your shield off at enemies once you are done being on the defensive to inflict some damage and push them back a little bit.
Scattershot
  • Scattershot is the third of three spells you will use throughout the game's beginning chapters, allowing you to fire a barrage of rocks at your enemies in quick succession — a little like having a magic machine gun. The spell works best against smaller, weaker enemies as it doesn't inflict a lot of damage in comparison to the explosive spell. However, for those who prefer quicker and swift attacks, this one could certainly work for you.
Genesis
  • Genesis is an ultimate move of sorts — better known as a Surge skill in Forspoken — that you activate by clicking both the main and support spell buttons together in unison when you have enough of your spell meter filled. This move summons vines and trees to inflict heavy damage on your foes. It's best used on tougher enemies or a large group to gain the most out of it. It's a powerful move that covers a nice surface area.
Sila's Magic
Slice
  • Slice is the basic main spell of the "Silas Magic" tree and is perfect for those that enjoy getting up close and personal with their enemies. Slash generates a flame sword that you use to hack and slash at your foes with. It's fast, responsive, and badass.
Blast Slice
  • Blast Slice creates a flaming spear that you can hurl at your enemies for damage, bursting into smaller spears once it hits its target — damaging any enemies in range. If you fire this weapon from mid-air you can do increased damage and cover even greater distances.
Arc Slice
  • Arc Slice will unleash a huge sword that you spin all around you to hit enemies in close proximity to you — the attack hits hard and fast. The damage can be further increased if used in mid-air, however; the length of the blade will be reduced to compensate for the increased damage output.
Rage Slice
  • Rage Slice channels your blade into your arms to create fists of pure fire that you can then use to pummel your foes into oblivion. If you keep the attack button held down you can unleash a devastating blast at the end of your combo to send your adversary flying across the battlefield.
Conflagration
  • Conflagration is a Surge move that invokes the power of a volcano — or what looks to be the insides of a volcano — and splatters your foes with magma and lava that will remain on the ground for a short period after the initial attack. The magma further damages any enemies stupid enough to stay standing in it.
Prav's Magic
Bolt
  • Bolt is the basic main spell of "Prav's Magic" tree and sees you hurling a ball of water at your foes. These balls of water then float around until you use one of your charged shots. Then the remaining balls of water will be used up to amplify the damage of your charged shot
Fan Bolt
  • Fan Bolt fires a set of magically linked arrows out in front of you. You can charge this one up to expand the surface area that the arrows can cover — if you've unlocked the higher-tier versions, that is.
Chain Bolt
  • Chain Bolt fires an arrow upon starting to charge up and then a more powerful version of the arrow when fully charged. If the second arrow hits in the same place as the first arrow, it would deal enhanced damage.
Cluster Bolt
  • Cluster Bolt fires an arrow straight up into the air which then breaks apart and comes hurting back down to earth, raining lightning bolts down on anyone standing underneath.
Cataract
  • Cataract is the Surge skill of the Prav skill tree and sees you conjure up a watery vortex that sucks in surrounding enemies and deals damage as it does so.
Olas's Magic
Dart
  • Dart fires a small surge of lightning that embeds itself in any enemies you hit. The damage output may put many players off of using this skill as it is relatively small compared to the other basic skills. However, the real use of this ability is that these Darts work as trackers for your charged spells to hone in on, chasing them around the arena and hitting them exponentially hard. The more Darts there are, the more charged attacks will be unleashed.
Storm Dart
  • Storm Dart provides an area-of-effect attack as you charge up this skill small surges of electricity will burst out and damage any enemies in range. Once you unleash this power, any enemies that have Darts in them will be hit for massive damage. However, the honing aspect will only work in the area around the player, the spell will not fire off and chase enemies down like the other two charge attacks.
Seeker Dart
  • Seeker Darts rain down bolts of lightning on the enemies that have darts embedded in them. Bouncing around the battlefield and bringing devastation to those who have wronged you.
Pulse Dart
  • Pulse Dart fires beams of light at super-fast speeds that pierce straight through any enemies that have darts embedded in them.
Tempest
  • Tempest is the Surge skill of the Olas's tree and conjures up a thunderstorm that will obliterate your enemies over a wide surface area.

ForspokenForspoken will make you feel like a true badass

Secondary Spells

Frey's Magic
Implant
  • Implant is a useful spell that causes damage over time to an enemy of your choice. While the damage is minimal, it can be used to help take down smaller enemies or to inflict a bit of extra damage on the beefier foes you may come into contact with while you unleash a multitude of other spells.
Tendril
  • Tendril is one of those spells that can save you in a pinch. Unleashing a long tendril against your foes in a wide area of effect attack, the move leeches a portion of the damage inflicted to heal yourself. In a game that has a limited amount of healing potions, or even locations to craft said potions, Tendril is a lifesaver — literally — and can give you that burst of health that will help you make it through many fierce battles.
Bind
  • Bind is a simple spell that can help you out in a pickle, utilising vines and roots to trap your enemies in place, thus allowing you to either attack them or focus your efforts on other enemies in your vicinity. Another option is for you to run as far away from the conflict if things are looking a bit bleak for Frey.
Disperse
  • Disperse is a great spell that provides you with a flower companion for a short period of time that hurls rocks and other debris at your enemies at random. The damage may be minimal, but it's effective in dishing some hurt out while requiring very little effort of your attention to use. Just cast it and then continue with your barrage of other spells to end the fight swiftly.
Leach
  • Leach is a self-heal kind of spell that doesn't inflict any ailments or damage on your enemies but can cure you if you get inflicted with poison. Poison is a sneaky little devil as it can drain your life in a blink of an eye — just be thankful poison can't deliver the killing blow, only an actual enemy can. So, it's best to make sure you heal up with Leach as soon as you get infected to avoid any unnecessary game over screens.
Screen
  • Screen is a very simple spell that coats you in a rocky shield that can defend you from incoming attacks and keep you out of harm's way. Especially effective when surrounded by multiple enemies as it can block those unseen attacks from behind.
Cut and Run
  • Cut and Run is a fantastic move that can get you clear of danger and deliver some damage in the process. Frey will blow open the ground beneath her, sending her hurtling backwards and delivering an area-of-effect attack that will hurt enemies near the blast.
Prime
  • Prime will be a very useful skill in fights with high amounts of foes, or with particularly large bosses. When activated you place a magical trap that explodes when stepped on, inflicting a large amount of damage and knocking most foes off of their feet.
Burrow
  • Those worrying about missing any loot from their encounters can rejoice thanks to this spell. Burrow will seek out any treasures and loot you may have missed around you and bring it back to you — how thoughtful. This is another useful spell to have outside of combat.
Sila's Magic
Bombardier
  • Bombardier is a beast of a move that allows you the possibility to pull off devastating chain reactions to the enemies around you. The move essentially turns whichever enemy you kick into a ticking time bomb that will explode when it hits the ground — dealing damage to all those nearby. This move has a lot of uses and the potential to be a lifesaver in the right situation.
Firetrap
  • Firetrap is essentially a smaller version of the ultimate move, Conflagration, that sees a small pool of lava bubble up beneath an enemy of your choosing. The lava pool will remain there for a short period, damaging the enemy that is unfortunate enough to be standing in it.
Beacon
  • Beacon is a move that summons a little ball of light that will increase the speed at which your stamina recharges. Perfect for use outside of battle, just be careful to not use it too close to enemies that you don't want to engage in a fight with as the light makes you easier to spot by the foes around.
Drag and Drop
  • Drag and Drop takes advantage of the Zip move (that you can read about down below), this will pull an enemy that is far away from you much closer, dealing damage in the process and switching you to Sila's Magic if you have Frey's Magic equipped instead.
Crucible
  • Crucible creates a firey prison that covers a large surface area, trapping enemies inside and granting you a nice boost to your damage whilst you are inside, helping to swiftly end your foes' existence.
Charge
  • Charge catapults you towards an enemy of your choosing at lightning speed, granting you a shield as you perform the powerful kick. On impact, you will send your enemies flying backwards, damaging them in the process.
Fusillade
  • Fusillade (which is not a type of pasta), generates multiple firey swords that will attack enemies whilst you charge up one of your main spells. When used in conjunction with a combo that ends with one of your charged-up powers, you could create quite a devastating outcome for your foes.
Legion
  • Legion will grant you a bit of company for a short period of time, summoning a couple of fiery soldiers that will accompany you and attack any enemies in the vicinity. Who needs real friends when you have these guys?
Aegis
  • Aegis (not to be confused with the character from Persona 3) is a spell that will cleanse you of any debuffs the enemies have given you in conjunction with your attack or defence — allowing you to fight at full force once more.
Prav's Magic
Naedre
  • Naedre summons a poisonous snake that stalks the battlefield for a short period of time, attacking and poisoning any enemies in the vicinity.
Maelstrom
  • Maelstrom summons a tall watery whirlwind that can block ranged attacks and damage any enemies who walk into it.
Brume
  • Brume slings an obscuring mist at your enemies, hurting and disorientating them, allowing you to slip away or prime your next attack unimpeded.
Eagre
  • Eagre is an incredibly useful skill that creates an area-of-effect attack that expands and pushes any enemies that are around you away, damaging them in the process over a wide surface area.
Inundation
  • Inundation heightens Frey's senses, allowing her to deal more critical hits for a short period of time.
Ablution
  • Ablution removes any negative stamina-slowing status effects Frey may have gained during battle. It also grants a temporary small boost to the recharge rate of Frey's stamina.
Oubliette
  • Oubliette is a powerful move that traps an enemy in an enormous ball of water that deals damage over time. Striking the ball earlier unleashed a powerful area-of-effect explosion that hurts enemies over a wide area.
Up and Away
  • Frey fires up into the air on a jetstream that damages enemies near her, Frey will also recharge her water projectiles that are used when using her charged attacks.
Alb
  • Alb is an incredibly useful skill that reduces the damage of any incoming unblockable or piercing attacks.
Olas's Magic
Distortion
  • Distortion deals damage before engulfing enemies over a wide surface area in a mind-altering mist that forces them to attack one another instead of Frey.
Aggression
  • Aggression sends out some Darts in a fan motion that can then be utilised alongside Frey's charged attacks.
Projection
  • Projection fires an electrical spear at Frey's foes that explodes and deals damage over a small area of effect.
Compulsion
  • Compulsion summons a barrage of mines that slowly float around the battlefield and explode for high damage whenever an enemy touches them.
Compensation
  • Compensation allows Frey to charge her Surge magic more quickly when she successfully dodges an attack with flow.
Sublimation
  • Sublimation allows Frey to slowly heal herself.
Suppression
  • Suppression erases all traces of Frey's existence, making it harder for enemies to detect her. Any sudden movement will cancel the invisibility effect, however.
Displacement
  • Displacement creates an illusory copy of Frey that enemies will attack instead of her. Allowing Frey to take advantage of her foes and twist the battle in her favour.
Hide and Seek
  • Hide and Seek fires out a plethora of magical projectiles as Frey moves around the map at lightning speeds.
ForspokenUse all the spells and powers Forspoken offers to come out the victor

Passive spells

Parkour
  • Parkour shockingly uses stamina and will deplete over time as you sprint around the lush landscapes Forspoken offers up. You will also utilise Parkour within fights almost all the time, using it to gain distance from enemies and to dodge incoming attacks — even initiating counterattacks for those skilled enough to pull them off. The ability comes with a few extra upgrades that you can purchase to make parkouring even swifter.
Zip
  • Zip gives you the ability to latch on to your surroundings and climb those pesky hard-to-reach areas with a lot more ease. You fire out a long tendril that can zip you around the map — perfect.
Glide
  • Glide allows you to use your newfound water skills to traverse the murky waters of Athia at a much faster speed, by simply gliding atop it all.
Float
  • Float is an incredibly useful skill that allows you to float in the air for a short period of time, allowing you to access areas you normally wouldn't be able to without this skill.
Scale
  • Scale grants you the ability to create phantom footholds that Frey can then use to boost herself higher into the air than normal.
Spoof
  • Spoof allows you to evade enemy attacks and leave a decoy copy of yourself behind to distract foes and allow you to heal up, take a breather, or ready your next spell.
Modify, Rarify, Amplify, Diversify, Fortify, and Vivify
  • These spells will be viewed as more of a passive bonus, as you won't ever see the positive effects they bring until you are crafting. These will increase how strong your potions are, how much you can improve your equipment, and various other things. These perks will come in handy thanks to the benefits they offer up and may be the reason you survive one or two tricky encounters.
Cuff
  • The Cuff is your sixth sense to locate items, enemies, and objectives — as well as your sassy companion on this epic adventure in an unknown world. Probably most important is that Cuff actually provides you with all your powers, so without the Cuff, you'd be pretty lost in the land of Forspoken.
That brings us to the end of this little deep dive into all the Forspoken spells and powers we are aware of — for now anyway. What do you make of the spells so far? Any that you think sound exciting to utilise? Any that you don't feel all that keen on? Is Forspoken still a contender for our best PS5 games list? Sound off in the comments down below!
