PS Plus helps Biomutant storm the popular PlayStation games chart

By Lee Brady,

PS Plus Essential has helped Biomutant crack the top 10 most popular PlayStation games this week while Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 holds firm to the top spot and The Callisto Protocol already starts to slip.

With the arrival of the PS Plus Essential monthly games for December 2022, subscribers have come out in droves to defeat the four World Eaters and collect all of the Biomutant trophies, netting the title a spot in the top 10 most popular games. Check out our PS Plus guide if you're curious how you too can claim a free copy of the 2021 action game.

PlayStation ChartsRocket Raccoon sure let himself go.

Players spotting differences in the PS4 and PS3 trophies for Mass Effect Legendary Edition have brought the game back into the top 20, and PS Plus Day One Release Divine Knockout hasn't done too poorly either with a debut at #26. Of course, nothing has made a dent on Call of Duty Modern Warfare II, which remains untouchable at the top of the charts — no doubt bolstered by the inclusion of one of the best free-to-play games on PS5 and PS4, Warzone 2.0.

Elsewhere, Need for Speed Unbound continues to climb from its relatively lowly debut last week, now up six places to #31 and even overtaking Need for Speed Heat, which no one would have thought it was competing against. Unfortunately, The Callisto Protocol's strong debut last week has already started to waver — no doubt suffering in the wake of mixed reviews and problems like the game's PS4 trophy issues. For the rest of the movers and shakers, here is the top 40 PlayStation Gameplay Chart for the week ending December 11th, 2022.
