PS Store leak reveals Street Fighter 6 release date

By Sean Lawson,

Street Fighter 6 has had its release date leaked through the PS Store thanks to an eagle-eyed fan. It can be assumed that this release date will be announced at The Game Awards later tonight, but unfortunately it has leaked early.

While the Street Fighter 6 trophies won't be dropping for a while yet. A recent release date leak through the PS4's PS Store has given us a rough idea of when they might crop up. The leak shows that Street Fighter 6 will release on June 2nd, 2023 on PS5 and PS4. Although it's exciting that we have a release date to look forward to, it's still going to be a while until we can assess if Street Fighter 6 is worthy of being placed on our best fighting games list.

Street Fighter 6 release date leaked through the PlayStation Store on PS4

Spotted by Twitter user BestBrosPlay — who posted their findings onto the social media platform — it appears as though Sony accidentally let slip the release date of the upcoming fighter way ahead of schedule. This looks to have been rectified on Sony's end and the release date is no longer attached to the Street Fighter 6 product page.

BestBrosPlays posted screenshots of the unfortunate mishap, as well as a video to prove that the screenshots were indeed real. Accompanying the release date leak we can also see that there are three options to choose from, with those being the Standard Edtion, Deluxe Edition, and Ultimate Edition — each of which comes with some form of extra content for you to utilise such as costumes, titles, and passes.

This is a pretty unfortunate situation for Capcom. The Game Awards are scheduled to kick off later tonight and we already know that Capcom will be there unveiling a plethora of information for us to lap up — with the Street Fighter 6 release date being a part of that lineup most likely. What do you make of the leak? Excited that we now know when to expect Street Fighter 6 to land on PS5? Is this one game you hyped up for? Think it stands a chance to enter our best PS5 games list?
