Gran Turismo 7 anniversary event makes the platinum trophy easier

By Lee Brady,

Gran Turismo 7 is celebrating 25 years of the Gran Turismo franchise with an in-game event that multiplies the amount of credits players can earn in races. For those missing the platinum trophy, it's a good time to try again.

Gran Turismo 7 has a host of in-game events to celebrate both the 25th anniversary of Polyphony Digital's iconic racing sim series and also to celebrate the GT World Finals, which are due to take place in Monte Carlo from November 24th to November 27th, 2022. For those still looking to grab those trickier Gran Turismo 7 trophies, the Gran Turismo 25th Anniversary event offers bonus multipliers and in-game prizes that can help players bag the platinum trophy.

The breakdown of proceedings comes via the PlayStation Blog, detailing how fans can net in-game rewards for Gran Turismo 7 by watching the GT World Finals on Youtube live and also by playing Gran Turismo 7. While Gran Turismo 7 and FIA Esports may have parted ways for the moment, it's clear that Polyphony Digital wants the PlayStation Studios title to be seen as a competitive game, with many of the best in-game incentives due to go live this weekend while the esports competition is live.

Among the best rewards are:
  • 5x credit rewards for Daily Races from November 24th to December 5th
  • 2x credit rewards for Online Time Trials from November 24th to December 5th
  • 10x credit rewards for Point Races from November 24th to November 27th, with a second round taking place from December 1st to December 4th
  • Bonus points and a special themed Red Bull X2019 for partaking in the Gran Turismo 25th Anniversary special races from November 25th to January 3rd
  • A bonus campaign for predicting the winner of the three GT World Finals championships before each race starts, with a million credits for each correct pick
  • A "Viewer's Campaign" with 24-hour rewards starting from each broadcast, with rewards ranging from a million credits, to tickets, to an early gift of the Ferrari Vision GT
Due to the in-game shifting expensive car prices, players have struggled to grind the credits necessary to buy the Ford Mark IV Race Car, the Jaguar XJ13, and the Ferrari 330 P4 '67 necessary to unlock the Three Legendary Cars trophy and unlock the game's ever-shifting platinum trophy. The events above give everyone a chance to get ahead of the grind, so if you burned out trying to unlock Gran Turismo 7's platinum trophy earlier in the year, now might be the best time to try again.

Despite flaws with the game's economy that have forced us to get scrappy when it comes to unlocking the platinum, TT News Editor Kes still looked favourable on the game in his Gran Turismo 7 review, and we deemed it worthy of our best PlayStation racing games list. Let us know in the comments if you think the game deserves another shot and whether you'll be trying for the platinum this week.
