Dead Island 2 has been delayed by Deep Silver and Deep Silver Dambuster Studios, pushing the game back two months from its original release date. While delays are not always a bad thing, we can't help but feel pranked by this one.
Dead Island 2 has had a notoriously rocky time coming to fruition and the recent announcement from Deep Silver and Deep Silver Dambuster Studios feels a bit like an elaborate prank — one to make fans of the Dead Island series have a mental collapse for the fun of it. Dead Island 2 has been delayed from February 3rd, 2023 until April 28th, 2023 — another delay to this list of many.
Dead Island 2 will no longer launched on February 3rd, 2023!
Dead Island 2 delayed until April 28th, 2023
Dead Island's official Twitter page took to Twitter to announce the delay to disappointed fans everywhere. The comments are filled with people both for and against the delay, with some being understanding of the situation and simply wanting the game to be as good as it possibly can be. Others were far more pessimistic and took this as the first of many delays to come, not only for Dead Island 2 but for many other games that are scheduled to release throughout 2023 — Hogwarts Legacy and Skull and Bones come to mind, the latter already received a delay that did not go over well. You can check out Deep Silver's announcement of the delay down below.
"We have some important news to share, so let’s rip that band-aid off straight away. We are delaying Dead Island 2 — the new release date will be April 28, 2023.
"The irony of delaying Dead Island 2 is not lost on us, and we are as disappointed as you undoubtedly are. The delay is just 12 short weeks and development is on the final straight now; we’re going to take the time we need to make sure we can launch a game we’re proud to launch. For those of you who’ve been waiting for years, thank you for hanging in there with us.
"In the meantime, we will be releasing an exciting new trailer and gameplay at The Dead Island 2 Showcase, which will premiere on December 6 on our Twitch and YouTube channels, as well as on the Dead Island website."
The zombie is mad about the delay it appears
At least Deep Silver has pointed out the irony of the delay in the above statement, but it's still a punch to the gut for everyone who has waited literal years for this game to release. Once again, we at the TrueTrophies news team must reiterate that we are not against delays — if a delay is needed to make a game the best possible version of itself that it can be, then absolutely go for it. It's simply the fact that Dead Island 2 has been in the works for over eight years at this point and we are still seeing delays being announced — we just hope this is the final delay the game needs.
