With the 2022 Game Awards slowly advancing towards us, it would be the optimal time for Bandai Namco to make an announcement in regards to the eighth instalment in the mainline Tekken series. Judging from the recent trailers for Tekken 8, the game appears to be quite far along in its production cycle and we can only hope for more information to arise in the coming weeks.We want Tekken 8! Bandai Namco recently released a report that the public can also access which discusses financial earnings; though, it may be hard to read for some due to being in Japanese. The report's main focus seems to be on Elden Ring's success and how FromSoftware's recent venture has sold a whopping 17.5 million copies. Yet, nuzzled into the report in the second paragraph of the second page, Tekken 8 gets a little shoutout — with a rough idea of a possible release window.Spotted and translated by eagle-eyed fans over on Reddit, the paragraph reads: "In addition to the titles scheduled for release in fiscal 2022, we plan to release a number of major titles in fiscal 2023 that will allow players to enjoy playing games longer and deeper. We are also developing 'Tekken 8' with the aim of releasing it in 2023 or later."Tekken 8 will be the start of a new storyline in the seriesTekken 8 was originally teased all the way back at EVO 2022, albeit in a more 'subtle' approach from the game's director who memed on the event before teasing the game at the end of a Tekken 7 trailer. Eventually, at Sony's State of Play event back in September, Tekken 8 would receive an official trailer that showed off just crisp and stylish the fighting game would be on PS5 consoles. While the report from Bandai Namco doesn't explicitly say that Tekken 8 will be released in 2023, it does give us the inclination that it's certainly a possibility, and for all of us who are itching to dive back into the iconic fighting franchise, we can only keep our fingers crossed that this shall become a reality.
