PlayStation is dominating this year at the 2022 Game Awards, with not one, not two, but three PS5 and PS4 exclusive titles in the running for Game of the Year — and we can't help but root for the adorable indie adventure, Stray. Sony is dominating this year's Game Awards, with a plethora of incredible PS5 and PS4 titles sprinkled throughout the 31 categories. In total there are 20 PlayStation-exclusive nominees all with a chance of snatching a prestigious award. Annapurna Interactive comes in second — thanks to PS Plus hit Stray — with an impressive 11 nominations throughout the many different categories. God of War Ragnarok leads the pack with ten nominations, followed by Elden Ring Stray is fighting a tough battle as it goes up against heavyweight titans like God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, Elden Ring, and A Plague Tale Requiem, yet even knowing this we can't help but root for the underdog — or is that undercat? There may be some bias on my end as I praised and gushed over the game in my Stray review, where I ended up giving a final score of 9/10. I was completely enamoured by the brilliance that Bluetwelve had conjured up. There is something about rooting for the underdog that is more enjoyable, particularly given that we already know that God of War and Elden Ring will be the two facing off for the title. Just imagine for a moment if this impressive little indie title pounced and took the win right from underneath them, though. That would be pretty epic to witness. Editor Kes may feel a little different about this situation, as in both his God of War Ragnarok review and Horizon Forbidden West review he gave both games a 9/10 and was blown away by their story, visuals, and gameplay. When it comes down to it, all games in the running for GoTY are worthy of taking the crown. It would just be an interesting victory to see the likes of Stray clawing their way to the top.
