God of War Ragnarok is now the most popular PlayStation game

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,

The most popular PlayStation game for the week is God of War Ragnarok and guess what? No one is surprised, in fact, we doubt that even Call of Duty Modern Warfare II is the least bit bothered — though Sonic Frontiers might be.

God of War Ragnarok has surpassed Call of Duty Modern Warfare II in dominant fashion as its first week comes to a close. PS5 and PS4 game releases are still coming, though; so plenty more might be in store.

With folks finally collecting the God of War Ragnarok trophies, we finally have a numerical representation of just how big this is outside of constant Sony reminders. Over its rival — the Call of Duty series — it has actually eeked our a considerable lead with a 9% player count advantage. The player distribution currently favours PS5 to PS4 at just over 3:1 — a continuing trend amongst PlayStation exclusives. With our God of War Ragnarok review hyping the game to the rafters, its no surprise, really.

Across the rest of the chart, take a look at God of War in the 10th spot after receiving a nice boost from last week's 12th place finish. Also, take a look at the rather mundane performance of the PS Plus monthly games for November 2022. It's further down the chart that things get a bit naughty, though: Sonic Frontiers is in 34th on its debut with 5:1 players giving it a go on PS5 rather than PS4. The Sonic Frontiers trophies are there to be earned, even if Staff Writer Lee doesn't like the fishing. It's not a great performance, but we can't wait to see where it's positioned on the best Sonic PlayStation games ranking.

That rounds up the analysis this week. While the bottom might be a touch surprising, let us know what you thought of the rest! Here are the top 40 most popular PlayStation games written up in a neat Gameplay Chart for the week ending November 13th, 2022.
