Control 2 officially announced for PS5 with a bigger budget By Sean Lawson, 11 Nov 2022 FollowtopicsControl505 GamesPlayStation 5Sean Lawson Control 2 has been officially announced for PS5 and it's going to have an even bigger budget than the first game. That means we can expect to see a lot more SCP shenanigans and even cooler set pieces.Remedy Entertainment and 505 Games are teaming up once again for the sequel to third person shooter action epic, Control. Control 2 was officially announced and this time around the franchise will have an even bigger budget, which should mean more SCPs, spruced-up combat, bigger set pieces, and a lot more of that action-horror we loved from the first game.Control 2 is finally coming!Control 2 will bring more SCPs and other horror elements to PS5Announced through a post on Remedy's official website, both Remedy and 505 Games have signed an agreement which will see the two studios co-develop and co-publish Control 2 — which was formally known as Codename Heron. Discussing the collaboration Rami and Raffi Galante, the co-CEOs of 505 Games, said: “We are excited to deepen our cooperation with Remedy and continue the success story of Control together. Since its launch in 2019, Control has sold over 3 million copies. Control is the biggest investment 505 Games has ever made, so it has a special place in our hearts. We are grateful to the whole player community that has made Control such a long-lasting and loved game, and are even more excited to bring out Control 2.”We can't wait to see what Control 2 will bring to the tables!Something that should bring a smile to your face, if you aren't already smiling, is that this time around Control 2 will have an even bigger budget than before — €50 million to be exact, a marginal increase of the $30 million that was used to create the original game. What that means is that the developers have more scope to do even bigger and crazier things than we saw in Control, with the most exciting prospect being the idea of including more SCPs than we got in the first game. According to Google, €50 million equates to around $51 million, which isn't far off being double the budget of the first game — just think of all the possibilities.Discussing the budget in more detail, the blog post says: "Remedy announced that the company had outlined high-level collaboration terms with 505 Games for a bigger-budget Control game. 'I’m now proud to confirm that the bigger-budget Control game, also known as Codename Heron, is Control 2, a full-blown sequel to our award-winning game Control,' says Tero Virtala, CEO of Remedy." The blog also lets us know that: "Control 2’s initial development budget amounts to EUR 50 million, and Remedy will retain the ownership of the game’s intellectual property."Are you happy to hear that Control is officially getting a sequel?Sadly, Control didn't make it onto our best PS4 games list, but there is a high chance that Control 2 could crack the best PS5 games list — only time will tell. We are now even more excited thinking about what the Control 2 trophies could entail, the Control trophies were actually quite a fun and easy ride to get the platinum trophy 'Director of the FBC' — hopefully Control 2 will have a similar vibe. That's all on this exciting little announcement, are you happy to see Control back?
