The Last Of Us multiplayer spin-off looks to tap into Fortnite talent

By Sean Lawson,

Naughty Dog has just expanded its team with the former battle pass designer for Fortnite and speculation points to them now working on the upcoming The Last of Us multiplayer title.

The Last of Us Part 1 launched without any multiplayer antics, something that was a disappointment for a large chunk of the fanbase. However, we know Naughty Dog is working tirelessly on a standalone multiplayer game that will be far more than just a follow-up to the beloved Factions multiplayer mode. Speculation is now rife after Naughty Dog hired the former battle pass designer for Fortnite, most likely to work on this multiplayer spinoff to the acclaimed The Last of Us series.

GamesRadar reports that Anders Howard — the former battle pass designer for Fortnite — posted to Twitter announcing his move to Naughty Dog studio with the caption "hell yeah" as he stands in front of a poster from the Jak and Daxter series.

Howard joined Naughty Dog as a principal monetization designer and started work in November 2022, according to his LinkedIn profile. It is not confirmed that Howard is actually working on the new The Last of Us multiplayer title, yet it would be highly unlikely to also think that he isn't considering his expertise and previous projects that he has worked on for Epic Games — such as Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Rocket League.
