By Sean Lawson,

The Callisto Protocol is fast approaching and Striking Distance Studios is hyping us up with more behind-the-scenes information on the upcoming horror game. This time the studio lets us know that horror has no rules.

Striking Distance Studios keeps hyping up The Callisto Protocol, getting everyone excited to experience the nightmare fuel we are sure to find ourselves ensnared in with this action-horror epic. In a new behind-the-scenes look at the game, Striking Distance Studios discusses how there is "no rules" when it comes to horror, and we can't wait to see what this means for The Callisto Protocol.

The Callisto ProtocolThe Callisto Protocol is all about building tension and atmosphere

The Calisto Protocol wants you to be afraid of opening doors

We already have a good idea of how The Callisto Protocol will be scaring the everliving daylights out of us on a minute-by-minute basis, thanks to the devs informing us that they want us to be afraid of fans, how they know "horror is linear", the pro-death trophies, and the brutality of recent trailers. However, a new behind-the-scenes video (which can be viewed down below) goes into even more details about the atmosphere and tension we will be experiencing, and how all of this is utilised to keep us on the cusp of a nervous breakdown.

The devs and actors — such as Josh Duhamel and Karen Fukuhara — sit down to describe how The Callisto Protocol will have us feeling nothing but "helplessness" and "dread" as we navigate this claustrophobic prison. One quote that stuck out was the idea that "with horror, there's no rules," and how this thought process will have been utilised in The Callisto Protocol's development. If the recent debacle with Japan banning The Callisto Protocol is anything to go by, we are in store for quite the gut-wrenching experience — we can only imagine the horrific sights we will have to endure.

The devs also discuss how just like the many fans in the game, they want us to be "afraid of opening doors" as we have no idea what may be lurking in wait behind it. It really feels like the devs want us to be shrouded in fear, which is only made even more abundantly clear when they say things like "The Callisto Protocol will scare the pants off of all of us, there will be no more pants" — which is an interesting aspiration to have, we must say.

Watching this video really helps get our adrenaline pumping as we count down the seconds until Callisto launches on December 2nd, 2022. The developers and cast clearly have so much love and passion for this project and everyone has worked tirelessly to conjure up an incredible and immersive world that will haunt our dreams — in a grim yet beautiful way — and we can't wait.
