You can now pre-load God of War Ragnarok to your PS5 and PS4

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,

God of War Ragnarok is coming to PS5 and PS4 on November 9th, 2022, but you are now able to pre-download the PlayStation exclusive from Santa Monica Studios much earlier in order to ensure you are ready for release, boy.

Update: God of War Ragnarok is now available to preload on PS5 and PS4 for players who have preordered a digital copy. If you're eager to dive into this final step in the God of War series order, and presuming you haven't broken the game's street date like Sony accidentally did, make sure to give yourself plenty of time to download the game's meaty file size ahead of its release date next week. Let us know if you'll be among the first ready to check whether Ragnarok improved the three things we hoped it would down in the comments below.

Original Story: God of War Ragnarok will be available for preload more than a week before the release date, so this is our guide to when and how to install Santa Monica's latest action-adventure early.

When can you pre-load God of War Ragnarok?

You will be able to preload the PS5 and PS4 versions of God of War Ragnarok on November 2nd, 2022. Preload allows you to ensure your copy of a game is fully downloaded before you play. This will be particularly important for a game with God of War Ragnarok's file size, which is reportedly around 90GB. With the game releasing on November 9th, 2022, the week in advance should allow even those with torrid internet the chance to make sure it is all installed.

To do so, all you need to do is go to the PlayStation Store and type in the game name. Click on the icon of the game and there'll be a massive button allowing you to set up an early download where the 'Buy' option usually is. This will give you a timer that tells you when the game will be accessible and queue the game for downloading at the scheduled time.

This will likely also be the embargo date for the God of War Ragnarok reviews as Sony tends to give a week of heads up to the public about the game quality if it is confident in a title. Indeed, in this case, PS Plus Essential holds the keys to God of War (2018), a game that is a big part of our best PS4 games and our best PS Plus games lists. So, we feel Sony probably has every right to feel a bit cocky about this one.

Will you be preloading? Looking forward to the game as a while? Let us know in the comments down below!
