A Plague Tale Requiem trailer oozes 15 hours of quality rat action

By Sean Lawson,

The newest A Plague Tale Requiem trailer has landed and it looks to be an incredible 15-hour, filler-less, action-packed romp of rat-infested streets and horrific nightmares that we can't wait to experience on PS5.

A Plague Tale Requiem is gearing up for its release this October on PS5 and has just dropped an eventful and rat-packed extravaganza trailer. We got to see in this new Plague Tale Requiem trailer, our two fierce siblings on a new PS5 outing, in a game alleged to be double the length of the first game. In Requiem, Hugo and Amica must journey to a mysterious island in hopes of finding answers to helping Hugo and ridding the world of its serious rat problem.

A Plague Tale Requiem's latest trailer suggests it’s all rats, no filler

The fact that the new trailer is so intense and tightly focused without an ounce of filler to be seen gives us hope that the recent interview with Kevin Pinson — Asobo Studio’s lead level designer — rings true. In an interview with PLAY magazine (thanks MP1ST) Pinson discusses the length of the game, how long on average it should take to beat, and the lack of extra fluff and filler. According to Pinson, A Plague Tale Requiem should take around 15 to 18 hours to complete — which is actually double the length of A Plague Tale Innocence.

“It’s about pacing, there’s no filler, there’s no trying to make it longer because we needed to. Our publisher Focus Interactive encourages us to do the length that we want to do for the game, for the story we want to tell. So we’re not aiming for a specific amount of hours. This is not something that we take into account when we first design the game. We are a small team of 70 people so we have to be really drastic about our choices.”

It's great to see a publisher encouraging its developers and supporting their decisions when it comes to making and building a masterpiece like The Plague Tale series is gearing up to be — fingers crossed. Despite being around double the length of its predecessor, knowing that we are going to be on an action-packed adventure from the first hour to our last with absolutely no filler to be seen at all is an exciting prospect indeed.

There isn't long to wait now until we can all experience this rat-infested action-horror game on PS5. This actually makes us want to sit down and sweep up those remaining A Plague Tale Innocence trophies, which we do have a free PS5 upgrade for, so now feels like the perfect opportunity to get that platinum trophy 'Innocence.'
