Cyberpunk 2077 pulls a No Man's Sky and redeems itself

By Sean Lawson,

Cyberpunk 2077 thanks players both new and old for amassing a total of one million daily players. This is a milestone that many would never have anticipated for the PS5 and PS4 title, but the game really has pulled a No Man's Sky.

Cyberpunk 2077 has had one hell of a rocky time, with an infamously horrific launch that was lambasted with bugs and game-breaking glitches. Yet, slowly but surely, CD Projekt has worked hard to iron out the bugs and make Cyberpunk a game worthy of the hype it once had. It seems all this hard work to fix the game is finally starting to pay off and it looks like Cyberpunk 2077 is pulling a No Man's Sky.

Cyberpunk 2077 is finally starting to get love and recognition

In a tweet posted by the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account, users were greeted with a heartfelt thank you for bringing the total player count up to one million on a daily basis. Players both new and old were thanked for boosting the numbers and putting their faith back in the hands of CD Projekt Red. Something Hello Games was able to do with No Man's Sky.

"Each day of this week Night City has been visited by 1 million players, both new and returning. We wanted to use this opportunity to thank you for being with us and playing the game. Thanks, Chooms!"

We anticipate the anime and corresponding recent free update called Edgerunners has had a big part to play in the boom of players taking a trip into this neon-lit city. Netflix's anime made by Studio Trigger happens to be fantastic, by the way, so we think that is probably the aspect most responsible for more players hopping into Night City. That being said, the upcoming DLC will bring even more fixes to car combat and more, so we think there is plenty of chrome left in the tank here.

Having owned Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 for quite some time now, hearing all these positive stories really makes me want to grab the free PS5 upgrade and give the game another go! What do you guys think? Are you happy that Cyberpunk 2077 has managed to pull a No Man's Sky and redeem itself? Let us know in the comments below!
