Sony has announced a new State of Play showcase for September 2022. This particular PlayStation blowout seems centred on Tokyo Game Show and the Japanese games coming, but a new AAA IP and God of War Ragnarok are rumoured.

Sony has announced the date and time for the new PlayStation State of Play. While the whole event is supposed to be Tokyo Game Show-themed, rumours are flying about God of War Ragnarok and a mysterious AAA title.

When is the next PlayStation State of Play?

Over on PlayStation Blog, Sony has announced that the next PlayStation State of Play is on September 13th at 3:00pm PT / 6:00pm ET / 11:00pm BST. The announcement doesn't specifically suggest any games offering in particular, but does tease a little. "For tomorrow’s show, we’ll have some great updates from our amazing Japanese partners, along with a few other surprises from developers all around the world," the announcement says. "Expect about 20 minutes of reveals, new updates and fresh gameplay footage for ten games coming to PS5, PS4, and PS VR2."

Despite the fact the event is happening shortly, teases from leakers are plenty right now. First, the new God of War series entry, Ragnarok, is being touted as Santa Monica Studio developers are tweeting non-stop. Reddit currently plays host to a collection of cheeky State of Play announcement retweets from producer Cory Balrog, Kratos voice actor Christopher Judge, community manager Blue Owz Medic, and UX designer Mila Pavlin. All of these point to potential news, none more so that a Twitter post from leaker The Insider with a picture of Kratos.

Stare of PlayState of Play prediction from The Snitch are in.

While Ragnarok was probably an easy shout given it releases on PS5 and PS4 on November 9th, 2022 and probably needs a bit more of a push given the strange marketing campaign so far, it is the rumour from the notoriously reliable The Snitch which has the most tongues wagging. In a Discord group, the leaker stated that "a very reliable source is working on a AAA PS new IP and that will be announced before Oct first." This would seem like the perfect place for it, and there is a possibility that it could be one of the ten new live-service games that have yet to be revealed.

With that, we bring the rumour mill to a close. Let us know if you are tuning in tonight and join our TrueTrophies Discord for some likeminded folks who might watch along with you. See you in the comments!
