Discord voice chat for PS5 leaks indicate a reveal soon

PS5 users have been crying out for Discord Voice Chat to be integrated into the console. Well, rejoice PlayStation fans: it looks as though a release date is on the horizon.

Update: It looks like Discord voice chat for PS5 could really be coming in 2023 after a small code and image leak has surfaced. This will be particularly vital to those playing the best online multiplayer games on PS5, given that PlayStation's party system doesn't offer any cross-platform support.

Insider Gaming reported on leaked code that inicated the previously reported March 2023 release date for PS5 voice chat might be correct. Given we don't speak code, we will have to go by the consensus of randoms who do — all of which say the PS5 (not PS4) players will have "certain features" unlocked in the future, believed to be with the Discord 7.00 updated.

Since then, Reddit has also pointed strange happenings in the mobile app that indicate full voice chat is coming for Discord on PS5. We imagine the first we will hear of it is when Sony next updates the PS5 firmware with a beta programme. That's it for the known news, I'm afraid! It's been over a year since Sony partnered with Discord and fans are still unclear as to when they will receive the highly requested app. Well, it looks like the wait is nearly over for all of us PlayStation users — if you consider March 2023 close by.

Discord is allegedly coming to PS5 in March 2023

Tom Henderson has taken to Twitter to inform the world that Discord is allegedly going to be integrated into PS5 consoles on March 8th, 2023. This will come alongside firmware update 7.00 Henderson says. Henderson added this information to one of his earlier tweets that discussed how Sony planned to bring Discord Voice Chat to the PS5 in “the coming months.”

"And just like that, the release date of 7.00 gets updated to March 8th, 2023. 🤭 Version 6.00 is September 7th, 2022. So Discord integration on the PS5 is March 8th, 2023 (if nothing else changes)."

Discord will allow PlayStation users to have direct communication with other players on PS5 and PS4, as well as between users on both Xbox and PC. This will be a huge helping hand for most PlayStation users when playing games, especially crossplay games. This feels like something that should have been integrated way before now.
