Prince of Persia Remake trophies are misleading other news outlets

By Lee Brady,

The PlayStation trophies for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake are being mistaken by websites as a signal that publisher Ubisoft intends to re-reveal the game. However, the trophies have been live on PSN since early 2021.

The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake trophies received a trophy list reveal on back in March 2021. However, news outlets have mistakenly reported the trophies are a sign that Ubisoft intends to re-reveal the troubled game, when in fact the Prince of Persia Remake trophies are old news.

Prince of Persia Remake trophies do not indicate trouble game's re-reveal

The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has seen quite a troubled development, with Ubisoft announced back in May that Assassin's Creed series developers Ubisoft Montreal would take over Prince of Persia development from Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai.

However, despite the recency of that news, eager news outlets and social media have remained hopeful that the game will receive more news soon, with websites like looking to the game's PlayStation trophies for a clue. Unfortunately, however, the trophy list they've drawn from is very much old news, preceding even the game's change of developers, and are thus very unlikely to hold any surprise launch date intel.

It's a shame, as we love the original Prince of Persia The Sands of Time and would love nothing more than to see it updated for modern consoles (or at least made available on PS Plus Premium so we can add it to our Retro PlayStation games list). However, we'll just have to be a little more patient and wait for more official news (or another big Prince of Persia leak) to hear more. Let us know if you saw any reports of the remake's impending re-release in the comments below!
