Guilty Gear Strive — Bridget comes out as a trans woman By Sean Lawson, 10 Aug 2022 FollowtopicsGuilty Gear -Strive-Arc System WorksSean Lawson Bridget has landed in Guity Gear Strive on PS5, PS4 and they are also coming out of the closet as a trans woman. This all ties into her personal story and brings representation to the trans community in gaming.Guilty Gear Strive had some new DLC unveiled at the recent Evo 2022 event. One of the characters who has made a triumphant return is a fan-favourite character, Bridget. While exciting that this yo-yo-slinging badass has made a return to the Guilty Gear franchise, even more exciting is Bridget directly acknowledging herself as female for the first time in-game.Bridget is bringing much-needed representation to the trans community in gamingThe Guilty Gear Strive DLC featuring Bridget swung onto PS5, PS4 consoles on August 8th 2022. You can now choose Bridget as your main character to decimate oppenents with her incredible yo-yo skills — and yes, she is the correct pronoun. Spotted by Kotaku, a Twitter user posted a video that shows a conversation between Bridget, Ky Kisuke, and Goldlewis Dickinson that confirms Bridget's true self for the first time in the series. When Dickinson asks if it's: "Cowgirl, or uh, Cowboy?" Bridget responds with: “Cowgirl is fine. Because… I’m a girl!” This marks a point in the series where she is comfortable with who she truly is at long last — and quite a beautiful scene to watch, if we might add.Bridget is back! Bridget was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX, which launched on PS2 consoles back in 2002. Until Strive, Bridget was quick to correct anyone that referred to her as a girl. We now understand that this was her struggling to come to terms with her gender identity. Where Bridget is from, the birth of twins that are of the same gender is considered bad luck. Because of this, it has always been demanded — without exception — that one of the twins should either be sacrificed or exiled if it should happen. Bridget's parents refused to give her up, instead choosing to dress her up as a female to avoid having to lose one of their children. This, understandably, will have had an impact on Bridget with her seemingly long-held feeling of gender dysphoria.Hopefully, it can help and inspire others who are struggling with their gender identity and help showcase the rainbow of people that make up the community. You can grab the DLC featuring Bridget for $25 on PS4 and PS5 consoles and get to annihilating your opponents with that kickass yo-yo. We at TrueTrophies loved this game which can be seen in our Guilty Gear Strive review. Are you happy with Arc System Works for bringing Bridget back?
