Marvel's Midnight Suns and ARC Raiders — do these delays seem reasonable to you?

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,

Two upcoming AAA games have been delayed to 2023 — Marvel's Midnight Suns and ARC Raiders. The first is a superhero tactical RPG featuring Wolverine and Dr Strange, whereas the other is a free-to-play co-op shooter.

A double-bill of delays has struck for Marvel's Midnight Suns and ARC Raiders. Both games, though very different in genre and style, will now be delayed into the same release window of 2023. As Scarlet Witch might ask — do these 2023 delays seem reasonable to you?

Big 2022 games slip into 2023 releases with more big delays for Midnight Suns and ARC Raiders

Firaxis, the developer in charge of Midnight Suns, announced that its tactical RPG will now be aiming for later in the fiscal year. "We are delivering the best possible experience for our fans," read the announcement. "We will launch later this fiscal year [on PS5]." This puts the current-gen version of the game anywhere until March 31st, 2023. The PS4 version will arrive later as the team strives to make the best game possible.

Embark Studios, meanwhile, has a much looser delay timeframe for co-op shooter ARC Raiders. It was announced at The Game Awards, but looked very mysterious in the initial trailer. The announcement stated that the PS5 game "would be releasing in 2023." In addition, it notes that "We will be using this time to expand the experience, and allow it to reach its fullest potential."

These two games will now release in 2023, with Midnight Suns coming out before March 3st, 2023. This is, incidentally, the second time Midnight Suns has been delayed. It is almost like publishers should hold off announcing a release date before it can actually hit a date... Argree? Disagree? Get down in the comments and announce your opinion!
