Stray publisher Annapurna showcase new PS5 games after PS Plus success

By Lee Brady,

Stray publisher Annapurna Interactive, hot off the heels of its recent PS Plus success, showcased a series of trailers for new PS5 games and updates coming in the near future.

Stray has certainly taken social media by storm, but its publisher Annapurna Interactive doesn’t seem interested in resting on the laurels of the game’s PS Plus success any time soon. Yesterday saw Annapurna showcase new PS5 games on Youtube, as well as a series of PS5 upgrades for two of the publisher's previous award-winning PS4 games.

Outer Wilds and What Remains of Edith Finch PS5 upgrades follow Stray PS Plus success

annapurnaStray was a hit, now Annapurna are looking towards the future.

In the showcase, Annapurna announced a PS5 upgrade to Outer Wilds, a game we gushed over in our best PS4 games list in the same breathlessly enthusiastic tone as our Stray review. An upgraded version of What Remains of Edith Finch is also on the way too — though both might share PS5 upgrade problems if players previously claimed either game via the PS Plus Essential monthly games.

Flock

We got our first look at new PS5 game Flock — a game very reminiscent of Flower from the developers behind Wilmot’s Warehouse and Stray’s PS Plus Extra co-star I Am Dead.

Bounty Star

Another brand new PS5 game, Bounty Star, received its first trailer. The debut title from developers Dinogod, it stars ex-soldier Clementine McKinney as she travels the wasteland in her mech suit, searching for meaning. That's a plot not too removed from Stray's — perhaps we'll see our cat hero show up in an easter egg.

Thirsty Suitors

We received a new deep dive developer video at the Annapurna Showcase for Thirsty Suitors, one of the exciting PS5 titles announced at the 2021 Game Awards.

The Lost Wild

A new game teases that had us very excited were for Jurassic Park-inspired The Lost Wild. It hasn't been confirmed yet for PS5, but we're allowed to dream, right?

Uvula

Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi next game, Uvula, was also teased at the Annapurna showcase. Again, we don't know much about it or whether it's coming to PS5, but it's a relatively safe bet, as the creator's previous works Noby Noby Boy and Wattam both made it to PlayStation consoles.

Previously released PS5 games like Maquette and The Pathless also expanded to more platforms, so it seems Annapurna is certainly casting a wide net as they look to replicate that Stray PS Plus success. What excited you most from the showcase? Let us know in the comments below!
