The PlayStation monthly games for August 2022 predictions are in. With new games set to be announced this week for release the following Tuesday, we have plumped for one PS5 and two PS4 games that we think might show up.
The PlayStation Plus monthly games for August will be announced soon — we even have PlayStation months planned out for you — with at least one PS5 game and two PS4 games. So, here are our PlayStation Plus monthly games predictions for August 2022.
Trek to Yomi (PS5)
Trek to Yomi has a chance at Plus after Game Pass launch
Trek to Yomi launched onto Game Pass earlier this year, though at the same time it hit PS5 and PS4 in all its black-and-white glory at full price. Now, with several months having passed since it debuted, we think the time has come for this one to hit PlayStation Plus. The game hasn't been included in the big summer sale, which usually means there's a higher possibility of the title being included in Plus. Frankly, the game is pretty good too, but we don't think it would have had a massive sales tail. Getting it on Plus with a flat fee from Sony might be the way forward!
The game itself is a black-and-white side-scrolling action game. In it, you are a samurai seeking revenge on the Mongols for burning down your town in Japan. It's a beautiful game, handles pretty well and has a surprisingly touching story. There are trade-offs — like the fact that the Trek to Yomi trophies require three play-throughs. Outside of that, though, it's a solid game even if it wouldn't make our best Plus games list.
Destroy All Humans! (PS4)
Destroy All Humans on PS Plus would be logical
Destroy All Humans got a remake in 2020 that kept all the same irreverent humour intact while tweaking and upgrading some of the visuals and controls to something that resembled a modern game. Originally released on PS2 in 2005 by Pandemic, the alien invasion simulator-lite became a bit of a cult hit. With a set of Destroy All Humans trophies that are nice and easy, this would be a fun little pickup.
Moreover, the sequel Destroy All Humans 2 Reprobed is on its way to PS5 in August. That might mean a rerelease of the first Black Forest Games remaster on Plus would help generate interest without losing too much profit, seeing as it was released a few years ago. This would certainly be an interesting title to pick from!
Evolve (PS4)
Evolve on PS Plus is a long shot, we know!
Oh, we hear you. You're probably thinking we have lost our minds picking the now-defunct Evolve for PlayStation Plus in the year of our lord 2022. To be honest, we aren't even going to sit here and say this is nailed on or even close, but do hear us out. The servers for this asymmetrical shooter were shut in 2018, despite the game having — well, 'mass appeal' is a little strong — at the very least a cult following.
After four years of muddying through tweets asking for the servers to be switched on again, Turtle Rock Studios seems to have done just that a few days ago. Now, Evolve Stage 2 peer-to-peer servers are alive again alongside actual matchmaking. Does that mean Plus could be part of the grand relaunch of this 4v1 monster shooter? Probably not, but it looks more likely than ever before that 2K might try something. Hold hopes slightly higher for a chance at those Evolve trophies again, folks!
