Popular PlayStation Games — July 24th, 2022 By Kes Eylers-Stephenson, 25 Jul 2022 FollowtopicsKes Eylers-Stephenson Stray proves a smash hit with PS Plus Extra subscribers this week as it claws to the top spot of the most popular PlayStation games. Meanwhile, Multiversus and Marvel's Avengers debut as Final Fantasy VII Remake resurges. Stray got to be the big winner this week after its debut into the PlayStation Game Lists for Extra and Premium. With other PS Plus new games for July 2022 making waves around the chart, it seems like Sony has made a great investment. Stray kitty does good for PS Plus Extra and PremiumOur Stray review was glowing, but the massive games the cute cat has kicked out might not be so happy with its virality, like Fall Guys, Call of Duty, and FIFA 22. To debut that high was exceptional work and speaks strongly to a subscription service's ability to get interesting indies in front of more gamers. Let's just hope that the team has earned its money back, but the performance in week one of release has been exceptional. Then, slightly lower down the scales, PlayStation Plus rears its head again. Despite a headache inducing start, Final Fantasy VII Remake managed to reenter at 26th after it became one of the July additions to PS Plus Extra. Similarly, just below it in 27th is Marvel's Avengers. It's been a rocky road for Crystal Dynamics' live-service game, but it does occasionally pop back into the fray even if it can't match the heights we see of other constantly updated games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla in 21st or Destiny 2 in 12th. It's not just indie games that are PS Plus fuelled, but big AAA games that folks were unwilling to test out previously. Assassin's Creed Valhalla shows Marvel's Avengers how position maintenance is achievedFinally, we just have to shout out the wonderful Multiversus. It was an open playtest, but somehow it is already finding the bottom of the chart. That is promising, to say the least. On top of that, it is rather good! That's it for a rather truncated week of popular PlayStation game fun. How wonderful, now browse the list at your leisure!
