God of War Ragnarok preorders scalped immediately

God of War Ragnarok might be PS5 and PS4's most hotly anticipated game. The result is that the PlayStation Studios title is subject to scalping with the top-tier Jotnar edition already fetching double its preorder value.

God of War Ragnarok, developed by Santa Monica Studio, is a PS5 game that might well follow the fate of the PS5 console. Preorders for the Jotnar edition of the game have been scalped and are already going to market with double the initial price.

EuroGamer first reported the news that PlayStation Studios' own God of War Ragnarok has been scalped. The Jotnar edition of the game costs £229.99 in the UK and $269.99 in the US and contains plenty of physical collectables, including Thor's hammer Mjölnir. It doesn't have a game disk so Sony can keep its limited stock available to PS4 and PS5 users, but that doesn't seem to have stopped popularity as the edition has sold out across most retailers.

However, it appears the Jotnar edition has been bought up by enterprising/shady folks looking to make a profit on limited stock items by buying low and selling much higher after stock dissipates. At the moment, on Ebay, there are reports of even the edition retailing for £300 to £550 or the US site selling versions now listed for between $375 and $550. While auctions might later indicate the real value of these scalped products, the Buy it Now prices are certainly optimistic in those higher brackets.

This follows a trend of physical gaming items suffering from being scalped by bots, with the PS5 console being the most notable to the PlayStation audience. If you are looking for less limited products though, God of War (2018) is currently available on PS Plus and well worth a go! Ragnarok releases on November 11th, 2022.
