Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection transmits to PS4 in 2023

By Lee Brady,

The Mega Man Battle Network mainline games are getting bundled into the new Legacy Collection, which is coming to PS4 both on physical disc and in two digital portions next year.

The collection includes all six mainline Mega Man series Battle Network games (or ten, if you count the split versions of each games from Battle Network 3 onwards), each of which originally released on the Nintendo Game Boy Advance. Capcom Entertainment, the developer and publisher of the series, has never ported the series to consoles outside of Nintendo's roster, so it's exciting news that the PS4 (and by proxy the PS5) will at last gain access to the fan-favourite series.

Mega Man Battle Network is the fourth Mega Man collection on PS4

The new collection was likely an inevitability in the eyes of most Mega Man fans, with Battle Network fans having to wait patiently through the release of Mega Man Legacy Collection, Mega Man X Legacy Collection, and Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection for their favourite flavour of Mega Man to finally get its new day in the sun.

The Battle Network series strays from the traditional Mega Man format by being a series of tactical role-playing games with card battling elements. The result plays like a blend between the Pokémon Trading Card Game and the Final Fantasy spin-off series, Final Fantasy Tactics. The series was popular enough to get its own anime as well, MegaMan NT Warrior, which aired between 2001 and 2006.

With Konami also releasing Castlevania Advance Collection last year, it feels like mining the Game Boy Advance for hidden gems is the most recent porting craze. It’ll certainly be interesting to see what trophies are up for grabs when Battle Network arrives in 2023!
