PlayStation State of Play rumours fuelled once more by Valkyrie Elysium ESRB rating

By Sean Lawson,

Valkyrie Elysium is having some rumblings after being spotted with a rating over in Brazil, which is the equivalent to an ESRB rating. But, could this hint at an even bigger picture surrounding PlayStation.

Update:
It would appear that the rumblings around Valkyrie Elysium getting a release date soon may turn out to be true. The game just received a rating from ESRB, where it has been awarded a teen rating.

ESRB rates Valkyrie Elysium ahead of rumoured State of Play

This ESRB rating is only going to fuel the alleged State of Play rumours that have been circulating for quite some time now thanks to Tom Henderson. State of Play is currently speculated to make an appearance on the 30th of June, 2022. With this date fast approaching it will only be a matter of time before we find out if this rumour is in fact true.

With Valkyrie Elysium being unveiled at the previous State of Play back in March 2022, it would make sense for Sony's State of Play to be the place where a release date announcement for the game is revealed. It looks like everything is linking up quite nicely at this point, but do take everything with a pinch of salt.

What do you guys feel about all of this? Do you think everything is pointing towards a State of Play this Thursday? Sound off in the comments below!

Original story:
In a surprising turn of events, Valkyrie Elysium was unveiled at the March 2022 Sony State of Play, we didn't receive any news of a release date and since the SoP news on Valkyrie Elysium has been fairly quiet. However, that may change in the coming weeks, as a recent leak has hinted at not just a Valkyrie Elysium release date — but another State of Play from PlayStation.

The Brazilian version of ESRB rates Valkyrie Elysium

Valkyrie Elysium was recently rated by the Brazilian equivalent of ESRB. With this, a lot of speculation has begun to circulate online about what this could mean for both Valkyrie Elysium and for the rumour about another State of Play being imminent.

Tom Henderson, a respected informant to the gaming community, has been talking about a possible State of Play coming to us in the near future. Sony has not hinted at anything of the sort, but like Henderson says in one of his tweets, Sony is very secretive when it comes to these sorts of events.

With Valkyrie Elysium receiving that rating in Brazil, it feels like an announcement of sorts is incoming for the game. It would make sense to give an update on the release date at this rumoured State of Play, seeing as the game was originally unveiled at the March event. On top of that, we know that the game is scheduled for release at some point this year, so a date coming sooner rather than later makes sense.

This appears to be the year that keeps on giving for Square Enix fans, with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and the new Final Fantasy Crisis Core remaster both being announced at the Final Fantasy 25th anniversary livestream. Now it is looking optimistic for this JRPG to be receiving some news in the near future. All of this is speculation, so please take everything with a pinch of salt, if any news breaks, we will update you here on TrueTrophies.

I must say, I was very excited to see Valkyrie Elysium at the march State of Play, I loved Valkyrie Profile so this game is right up my street — it looks super slick and stylish. I do adore a good hack'n'slash game, so I hope Valkyrie Elysium doesn't disappoint when it finally releases. Are you guys excited for Valkyrie Elysium? Are you hoping that we get a surprise State of Play from Sony soon? Sound off in the comments below!
