Announcing Warboats PvP — a new head-to-head community event

By Rich Stone,
Update:
Registration is now open at the Warboats PVP Hub.

Please register before Monday if you want to take part.

Original Story:
Our Warboats community event has been one of the most popular we've ever run.

We've decided to bring it back for 2022, but with an added twist — you are now playing head-to-head against other gamers, over four rounds of trophy-hunting fun.

Welcome to Warboats PvP.

How Warboats PvP will work

Warboats PvP will run over 4 rounds.

At the start of each round, each player will be matched against another player that they haven't been matched against previously.

Both players will be given an 8x8 grid of target trophies based on the locked trophies that each gamer has in their collection.

The grids will contain different trophies for each player, but they will be matched as closely as possible based on TT Ratio, which should keep their unlock difficulty similar.

Hidden behind the squares of each grid will be five ships:
  • Carrier — 5 squares long
  • Battleship — 4 squares long
  • Cruiser — 3 squares long
  • Submarine — 3 squares long
  • Destroyer — 2 squares long
You fire at the ships on your target grid by unlocking the trophy in the square you are aiming for.

Points are awarded as follows:
  • Hitting a ship: 3 points
  • Sinking a ship: 5 extra points
  • Missing with a shot: -1 point
  • Not firing any shots at all in a round: -20 points
The person at the end of the round with the most points will win that round, and be awarded 20 bonus points for the match win.

Each round lasts for 13 days, with a rest day between each round which will allow the TT development team to re-run the matching routines to ensure even matches for the following round.

The registration page will allow you to choose the platforms, ownership status, and game started settings you want for the contest. It will also show you how many valid locked trophies you have.

Registration will close at 2pm UTC on Monday, June 20th.

The first round matches and grids will be announced at 2pm UTC on Tuesday, June 21st.

Before you register, make sure you update your Game Collection

Nothing dampens the enthusiasm more than getting target trophies for games you don't have access to any more, so it's vitally important that you update the games in your Game Collection. Here's how to do that.

Between-round requirements

At the end of each period, we will re-check your valid trophy count based on the settings you chose when you registered, as well as any new games you may have started or added to your collection. We will also remove any games that you have set to 'Not For Contests.'

You must have at least 300 valid locked trophies at the end of rounds 1, 2 and 3 in order for us to include you in the matches for the following round. If you do not have at least 300 valid locked trophies, you will be excluded from the following round of matches.
