PlayStation Gameplay Chart: Everybody loves Spongebob, Kratos less so...

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,

The normal PS5 and PS4 games like Elden Ring, GTA V, Fortnite, FIFA 22, Call of Duty, and Apex Legends entries find the top of the chart, but PlayStation Plus has thrown us one major curveball in the form of Spongebob & co.

With PlayStation Plus's new games come three new contenders: Nickelodeon: All-Star Brawl, God of War, and Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker. Here is the top 40 PlayStation Gameplay Chart for the week ending June 12th, 2022.

Chart compiled using gameplay data from over 833,000 active PlayStation accounts. Chart information is copyright TrueGaming Network.
FIFA 22 is alive and well at the top of the pile, still maintaining steady numbers from last week. The big new entrant in third, however, is Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl which has 11% more players than Elden Ring. The character fighter has recently been updated with voice work and appears to be all the better for it, especially considering it's being played at a 2:1 ratio on PS5. This means we have Spongebob beating out the likes of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in 4th and GTA V in 5th, but what really counts is how it holds onto the position this week.

Now, of all the PlayStation Plus games, we didn't expect God of War to be slain by niche online fighter Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker. Santa Monica's PS4 epic is down in 17th while some folks in headbands are scrapping in and around 13th, nearly fending off the likes of Genshin Impact in 12th with only a 3% difference between the player counts. Meanwhile, God of War is down 33% in the total player count when compared to the Naruto gang.

Perhaps one of the biggest surprises amongst these results is the fact that Horizon Forbidden West has lost top ten footing at 11th with a three-place drop, and GT7 has slipped a gear to 14th. This is, in part, due to the arrival of the new Plus games, but there have been minor slippages in numbers, too. At least the PlayStation Studios name is resued by a The Last of Us Part II reentry at 38th, possibly due to the announcement of the one and only The Last of Us Part I.

Sorry for the shortness of the analysis here, it has been a busy Monday! Could you let us know if you spot something interesting? Any surprises? Keep us informed, and we will see you in the comments!
